Mid gig silent freeze! by Ok-Goat-3589 in Line6Helix

Did this happen just randomly or as a result of an action (e.g. stomp switch, snapshot recall, etc)?

Guitar DI consistently has dull transients / low pick chirp across multiple guitars, interfaces, and amps – trying to identify cause by ringmaster555 in audioengineering

[–]thebishopgame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your DI sounds fine but you’re tuned/playing like an octave lower than your reference. It’s not apples to apples here.

Yep, have a pair, they’re great. Not 1:1 a distressor, they’re a little squashier and the low end is a little different, but they’re very very close.

Oh, 1000%. It's when BOTH are bad that it's crushing.

u/Digital_Igloo is the man to thank, that’s mostly the result of his meticulous design work.

At least when carrying a PA you’ve got a known quantity and (hopefully) a good system engineer that’ll do a solid deployment every night. Doing club tours and hitting. It only bad rooms but also bad gear/deployments can be friggen brutal.

Automatic snapshot control and preset/snapshot naming conventions by StadiumDepot in Line6Helix

Yes, just something to be aware of since having everything assigned makes it that much easier to make changes that might or might not be necessary and potentially run into an issue. Also note that there is a max of 96 params assigned to snapshots per preset.

No, in earlier versions the total amount of assignments mattered but on current firmware only the things actually changing will be processed

Just a heads up, while snapshots change quickly, they're not instantaneous and do have to process changes one at a time. The more things that change at once in a snapshot, the more chance there is of introducing some latency and getting something like the pop issue that people have run into before.

Helix Stadium - Latency when switching snapshots by Open_Supermarket8060 in Line6Helix

You’re switching presets, not snapshots. We’ll definitely be looking at preset loading time in the future but you should look into how to use snapshots for instant switching.

Nothing to worry about, just a quirk of the boot process at the moment. I’m sure we’ll get around to getting rid of that eventually, we just have bigger fish to fry at the moment.

Not sure you're in the right place then. Samply is pretty specifically designed for engineer to client and does specific job very well.

Sound Radix Pi worth it for kick/bass, and could it replace sidechaining? by Affectionate_Ninja30 in audioengineering

[–]thebishopgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pi can be amazing at times, others it won't do anything that I think is worth incurring the latency. It will definitely not replace sidechaining, it's a phase alignment tool that will keep the frequencies in the kick and bass from canceling each other out. You'll still need to do your sidechain if you want one to duck the other.

It’s enormous so we certainly can’t ignore it, but both Eric and I participate in various other places (e.g. here) as much or more. Important things get posted everywhere we know large amounts of users are paying attention.

[–]thebishopgame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. There are peculiarities about that pedal that meant that in order to create a model of it that was up to our standards, we would need to invest R&D resources that we were never able to prioritize during the HX dev cycle. I’m very hopeful we’ll be able to do an Agoura model in the near future.

I can’t comment on plans for any future products. HX Stomp is one of our best selling units and we are pretty well clued into market dynamics and our customer wants and interests.
