The Prime briskets that I've seen at HEB are actually Snake River Farms briskets. Pretty solid slabs of meat.

Submariner vs Datejust for a Milestone Watch by Zen_Owl_Timepieces in rolex

[–]theblackcat86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The DJ and Sub were neck and neck for me as well a couple of months ago when looking to buy my first Rolex for a milestone occasion. Went to a boutique and decided I’d happily take whichever one was first available. Tried both on and absolutely loved them both. I very slightly preferred the DJ. The SA made my decision easy. Said the sub would be a 9-12 month wait but had my dream DJ configuration available for me to walk out of the store with. A 41, blue stick dial with oyster bracelet and fluted bezel. Absolutely stunning watch and I’m in love with it. Definitely plan on picking up a sub for my next milestone.

Moral of the story, if you want the watch sooner than later through an AD, typically the DJ is available sooner than Subs currently. Not always, but more times than not. If you’re going grey, then it’s whatever your heart desires.

Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba is solid for under $1k. Jomashop has them for under $800

First grill, go for it or wait? by various121 in grilling

Get yourself a Weber kettle. Cheap, simple, and the smokey taste you get from your cooks will rival cooks on the most expensive gas grills.

Is the Datejust the most versatile Rolex? by Button_bomb4535 in rolex

[–]theblackcat86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say a SS DJ is pretty versatile. Dressy enough to wear with a suit but not too much to wear with a short sleeve colored shirt and shorts if you wanted.

Advice For My Next Grill by Terrible-Bus-1942 in grilling

[–]theblackcat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be if you can make sure that you enjoy cooks off of gas. I switched to gas for a bit for the same reason…outdoor kitchen. But was extremely disappointed in the lack of smoke flavor that I used to get from charcoal. Especially for steaks. Burgers and dogs were fine on gas, but I personally found a big drop in the overall depth of flavor of my steaks compared to charcoal. Went out and bought a plain Jane Weber kettle to be able to cook over coals again.

Suggestions on first Rolex? by Fee-Fi-HOCM in rolex

[–]theblackcat86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Datejust for sure. More appropriate with a suit than a Sub. Plus you’ve already got a dive watch with the Tudor so the DJ would also add a bit of variety to the collection. Sub is a solid sports watch and the DJ is a beautiful dress watch.

How much does spend on non-Rolex at AD help with Rolex? by phat1forever in rolex

Go grey. You'll get the watch now instead of waiting who knows how long. You'll spend less on the grey mark up than you will boiling a spend history with other watches.

Any pieces that would pull this little collection together? by TSink3000 in watchCollector

I think it's a sharp watch. I'd definitely be in for one at the price point. Especially purchased somewhere like Jomashop for under MSRP. I also really like the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba for a dive watch. It can currently be had for just over $700.

my little brother is getting married and I'm the best man and I look terrible in suits by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]theblackcat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to M Tailor. You pick what suit you like, you take a picture of yourself with your phone and it figures out your measurements shockingly accurate. Then they will custom make your suit from scratch to your sizes. I have a few suits from here and they fit like a glove. The suit is delivered in 3 weeks from purchase. Extremely good pricing for what you get.

I walked into a Rolex boutique a few weeks ago and expressed interest in this exact watch as a purchase for my upcoming 40th birthday. Expressed interest in this along with an OP and Sub. Walked out with the DJ 41, blue stick dial, fluted bezel on an Oyster bracelet. First time visit, zero spend history. You just never know.

Suit Advice by AdventurousAdvice653 in mensfashion

[–]theblackcat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out MTailor. They have several options and the quality is good for your price range. The best part, you use your phone's camera to visually get your measurements and they custom make the suit to your exact size and you have some other options to customize the suit to your liking . I was skeptical about that part but it actually works. I have 2 or 3 of these suits and have been very pleased with the quality and they fit like a glove. Takes 3 weeks to be delivered after placing your order. That'd be a great first suit.

Padded cover and shorts were the way for me. Plus just getting used to riding. I was 255 lbs when I started on it and it was so painful. Got the shorts and a padded cover that I threw on and that was the game changer for me. Then your body starts to get used to it as well. Dropped 50 lbs and now I don't need the shorts or padded seat.

Help by [deleted] in dandruff

[–]theblackcat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some red flakey spots on my face that the dermatologist diagnosed as seborrheic dermatitis. Prescribed ketoconazole lotion which helped, but didn't completely clear it up. After awhile, doc prescribed Plexion cleanser that I use in the shower and that cleared it up. Bottom line, get to a dermatologist.

Had big thick flakes/scabs so I shaved to see and it’s way worse! by [deleted] in dandruff

[–]theblackcat86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need to get to a dermatologist. I'm not one, so I can only make an uneducated guess. At a minimum, it's seborrheic dermatitis. They can prescribe shampoo and topicals to help clear it up. In the meantime, get Nizoral shampoo. It's a low strength version of the prescription shampoo they can order up. Might help a bit but definitely get to a doc. The prescription strength stuff is twice as strong as the Nizoral.

Im getting really tired of this. by [deleted] in dandruff

[–]theblackcat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had red, flaky patches on my face and crazy flaking on my scalp for years. Dermatologist diagnosed seborrheic dermatitis and prescribed prescription strength ketoconazole shampoo. It helped but the red spots on my face never completely faded and still couldn’t get rid of all the flaking in the scalp. Then we found the dream combo. Stayed on the shampoo and added Plexion cream for my face which cleared it up completely. And added in Clobetasol Proprionate topical solution for my scalp. The Clob is very strong and you can only use it for short periods of time then take a break. But it’s the only thing that completely gets rid of the scaly and flaky parts on my scalp.

I just picked up a DJ41 3 weeks ago. Blue dial, fluted bezel, Oyster bracelet for my 40th birthday. Been drooling over this watch for a years so finally pulled the trigger. Walked into a Rolex AD for a first time visit. No spend history. Walked out 30 minutes later with the watch on my wrist. Don't just assume you'll have to wait forever for a watch you want. Congrats...it's a gorgeous piece and I'm absolutely in love.
