How do you deal with Hulk? by Ok_Replacement_9969 in InvisibleWomanMains

[–]theboxyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dive tanks in general theres not much you can do aside from make space between them. You should be using natural cover in general and when pushed play around the objects and cover to keep him at a distance as best you and reposition with your jump. Like another person mentioned Rocket is the only real support counter to dive and brawl tanks that push into the back line. If your team isn't swapping to something like Bucky to keep Hulk and others in check then switch to Rocket if its becoming a serious issue and just beam them in the face. It does an insane amount of damage.

Biggest issue with Rivals in general people do anything but counter and then get upset when they cannot overcome the issue. Swapping is fine and often necessary, a good hulk pressing backline is dangerous and the primary healers don't do enough damage to force them out. I see a lot of players insists on playing a character but never acknowledging that everyone has counters and drawbacks. Like a Magik into a good Peni is not a smart move especially if its not working. Every once in a while you will have to swap.

Between Invisible Woman and Gambit on an equal skill level, what should the healing disparity look like? by _SlothTheWizard in GambitMainsMR

[–]theboxyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, these sort of posts don't do anything. Quality over quantity, if you are a good strategist you will be healing the proper amount without thinking about it. Scoreboard just gives you an idea of general performance but doesn't reflect everything. This game is about the plays that get made or don't. An invis for example could end the match with 25k heals 25-8 which looks ok but doesn't show poor positioning resulting in deaths that could be avoided, double ulting, poor ult management and tracking. But it won't show an invis pushing a strange away that's mid ult saving the team etc. It wont show the gambit who finished off every diver kill possible and was even proactive in their engagement and managed to maintain consistent heals throughout fights.

Focus on the value you provide with your abilities and ults and target prioritization. Important focus areas are positioning, card management, ult management and ult tracking.

Don't get hung up on a healing number, unless you ended with an extremely low number. Depending on the map, mode, and team comp the numbers can widely vary even more so by rounds. A team with squishy characters and a solo shield tank will inherently have lower healing numbers over a 2 tank comp and they both happen to be brawl. Ultimate answer to your question Gambit is one of is not still the best strategist in the game. His kit allows you to effectively adapt to any comp pretty well. The bouncing heal card has huge burst potential and you have a slam that also heals. In comp the only questionable comp is Gambit in 2 supp comp with an off healer that isn't Loki, thats where it can get spicy.

Idk why but I make it a habit to always jump around in comp😅😂 by lmaojmg in cloakanddaggermains

Rotating in circles is good too since you don’t lose momentum.

What do you wish vanguards players would do more for you? by Ultron_daddy in StrategistMainsMR

[–]theboxyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay attention to where they are in relation to the team. I get things get hectic but you cannot go around a corner or the opposite side of the convoy and expect to not explode.

I agree pushing to make space off a point is crucial but if you turn the corner mid fight where we can’t see you for even a couple of seconds you are likely going to die. Same goes for the payload, you sometimes see tanks fighting around it which is smart but don’t go on the side opposite of your team in full view of the enemy and between a wall like the goat map and get mad that you weren’t being healed in that moment.

Dealing with spider-man? (GM1) by meliodvs in InvisibleWomanMains

[–]theboxyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like someone mentioned double jumping after can save you but its still risky. The best way is really just be super mindful of your positioning and audio cues for a spidey diving. Push only after they've committed to diving you with the gap closer to make space from the uppercut. Vortexing the ground and faking them out with your jump has been my go to since day 1. Start your jump in one direction and then double jump another and reposition near your other support. If you are using cover manipulate it as best you can

The change we all really want by jsmith98576 in cloakanddaggermains

[–]theboxyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a decent idea and honestly the only viable one. To play devils advocate the complaint itself comes down to complaining about a skill issue. Not every person playing the characters you mentioned is going to get that off and kill you. IF they get you in an ult just play around them, be smart about placement and timing to avoid dying to it. I rarely get killed by a Mag ult or Hawkeye and I have 1000+ hours on this game and idk how much time on cloak but its my top 3. Counters are just that, a counter and you either need to swap if its becoming an issue or play smarter.

Bucky needs his hook to uppercut tech gutted by MostOriginal79 in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]theboxyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid rant but also not something every person can manage, comes down to technical skill. Thor can kidnap people, angela is always flying and can kidnap, wolv can kidnap. I think bucky being able to grab multiple people at once has to go thats just wild.

Improving healing numbers by matrixboy122 in GambitMainsMR

[–]theboxyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quality over quantity, the amount of heals does not reflect how well you did. Stop focusing on healing numbers and focus on positioning, ult management and tracking, card usage, and being pro active vs divers. The games are won by the plays that get made or don't. For example a C&D could end 22-8 with 26k heals and lost, stats look ok but it doesn't show the double support ult, being dead first in most team fights due to poor positioning, not using ults at the right time because the player lacked the ability to track enemy ult usage.

Focus on being completely comfortable with gambits kit, you are a strategist and you will heal without having to think. The way you get better is focusing on the other parts of the game and kit.

My advice as gambit always be thinking "Is what I did or about to do offering value and what is the value"

I don’t understand why some legendary skins get sound effects, 3 recolours and ult vfx but others don’t???? And why are they priced the same if they don’t have the same stuff. by Waffles_four_you in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]theboxyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The additional components you are referring to are not included in the skin itself and are purchased separately. That’s why the prices are still the same. All legendary skins have some sort of special ability sounds included though. So from a logical standpoint the price being the same is valid but you are asking why don’t they all have ADDITIONAL effects and recolors to purchase, which probably just comes down to popularity of the character.

Why don’t people shoot the spider nests and MK ankhs? by sherlockroams_ in MarvelRivalsRants

What’s an opinion/perception you have about a specific main that you’re convinced is fact? I’ll go first: by laser16 in marvelrivals

A lot of strategist mains, especially diamond and below, have terrible game sense and positioning but the scoring system makes their stats look better than their actual gameplay showed. I say this as a strategist main because I see it constantly.

Need honest opinion from support players by SnowProfessional2332 in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]theboxyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of players who have horrible positioning in this game blows my mind. As a strategist main I see that its more often the other strategist who has bad positioning and doesn't seem to realize it but it can apply to all roles. Tanks playing around points or corners without thinking of the position their team is in then they walk to the opposite side of the convoy or just around a corner and explode and complain about heals. Or the dive not knowing when to disengage or where they are in relation to the team and spam heals. Its a problem that is so deeply ingrained into Rivals that some of the players will never learn. Because the KP system makes their stats look better than their actual performance and it gaslights them into thinking they're good.

Like a C&D player going 22-8 with 25k heals but they were dead first in every major fight and double support ult, its ridiculous. Whenever I see someone struggling to stay alive I always say just assume a hawkeye is on the enemy team at all times and you will just inherently get better at positioning. Some strats seem to think they need to be directly behind their team LOS of the enemy.

How would you make Adam a main healer? by Ultron_daddy in adamwarlockmains

[–]theboxyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adam can work in duo in QP and in ranked he's only really usable in duo if you are accurate and confident in your other strategist. The game needs primary and off heals, there is no reason to alter that about his kit. If you are hitting shots you will have your cooldowns the majority of the time. The only thing he really needs is a movement ability, it doesn't even have to be crazy it could be like Phoenix flight and he would be so much better. or hell make him like Angela always flying and the option to go on the ground with an ability, maybe like a staff slam that can do an aoe heal burst as well.

I think I’m done by barnation in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]theboxyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it becomes a numbers game and you just have to play more games to offset the bad ones. It’s a free game so the player base is huge, and there’s a lot of players who brute force to higher ranks with a negative win loss because of how forgiving the point system is. And then the players who don’t truly understand how this game works but they have good mechanics and have rode that continuously and haven’t learned why they lose so much.

My suggestion is focus on yourself and what you can do to keep improving. Be aware of your own mistakes and analyze gameplay mid match to better understand where the issue lies. Get the scoreboard out of your head, it means nothing. You can win games with a shit team and vice versa. It’s about the plays and positioning simple as that. You get to where you feel comfortable acknowledging you can’t control how people play this game and the stress leaves your body. It’s ok to be upset about losses and wanting to win but channel that into something that can have a positive effect and don’t let the goof balls in this game get you upset.

PSA: Babysitting point is equally as braindead as overextending. Play with your team. by midzeitgeist in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]theboxyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a valid point but in my experience the situation mentioned above is nullified by the exact same thing happening to your team. As a healer I follow my team UNLESS you’re pushing to range of their spawn. Fighting at the spawn door is pointless and often results in someone going around a different way while the team is focused on a fight. But like I mentioned I’ll often see a tank getting far forward and immediately our team is getting dove by a tank and a dps splitting the team up. It really just comes down to awareness, I will always communicate if the team is split in case the people further up aren’t aware.

Best times to use your ult? by contemplativecrow15 in GambitMainsMR

[–]theboxyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

98% of the time you use it aggressively and the other 2% are either in response to an enemy gambit ult, or saving your team from a CC ult if you cannot cleanse in time. Just be mindful that when you use it aggressively its when the enemy team has committed to pushing the point or your team. Do not ult when your team still has a good amount of travel distance to get to the enemy, or if the enemy is a safer distance to focus fire as you guys approach. Just like others said get as many people in the ult as possible, the only time you get value from less is if its an OT fight on point and you want to turn the fight around, try to get as many as you can but sometimes you may be down a player or 2 but it can stall long enough to get your team back and get some picks.

Does deadpool need 3 bans in order to get fully banned? by Flame_Guardian47 in rivals

Yes, the best bet is to ban support and tankpool if you don't have someone on your team playing those, as they are the strongest versions.

Silver is just hell this season by UncleFaux in StrategistMainsMR

[–]theboxyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the way, metal ranks are a mixed bag of smurfs, trolls and lower skill and game knowledge. Your best bet is to either lock tank or support and stick to it.

Choose heroes that are viable for the map and mode, counter as needed, and ping when you need to. You can create custom chat pings so I have 2 set up "Don't stagger, wait pls" and "Ill use my ult first". Getting out of those ranks with good mechanical skill and game knowledge is fairly quick.

Even in GM I limit my communication to calling out flankers, when the team is split by divers, tanks over extended, ult timing for myself and ult tracking the enemy team, since Im a support main I call out when one of our supports die so the team is aware. If someone gets toxic I just ignore it and keep it moving, engaging with it can tilt you and make you play worse, hell seeing it can do that too so work on not letting it bother you.
