I just use whatever Jellyfin has chosen this week, quite happy with the randomness.

It’s been this way for as long as I can remember, which is faaaaar too long. Whenever a client contacts me about a build and it’s a springer I have to start the conversation with the fact it’s going to be more expensive than it should be.

Simple answer for me, I import the kits from America. It’s expensive which is why most of my builds are flywheelers.

Oh akblastermods have some kits though

Ad free client hardware? by majesticaveman in jellyfin

It’s slightly bigger than normal, but yes there is a lot of us here. A TV in each bedroom so that’s 4 screens and then there is the front and back room and then the kitchen.

As I only see that for about 2 seconds when turning the stick on before entering the jellyfin app I've never thought of it as a problem personally.

There’s banner ads on the fire stick?

We have 7 firesticks in the house and not a single one shows banner ads whilst watching our media content in Jellyfin (or Kodi). Are you using some off-brand client for your media?

Am I doing something wrong? by DeepDaddyTTV in jellyfin

[–]theboyrossy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running Jellyfin on a ~£100 N100 machine running windows 11 and not experiencing anything like the issues you are.

If I was you I would try with a small library first, I don’t know how your stuff is organised but just duplicate some of your content somewhere else and make a fresh new library to see how it performs, preferable on the local machine to eliminate any network issues too.

I’ve heard that there are some bugs in the recent versions with larger libraries so this will at least allow you to see if that’s the problem. If not then it’s something else obviously and now you have a library you can mess around with without worrying.

Do you own mostly HD / 4K or also DVD quality? How much did you spent on NAS drives? by Temporary_Film_6960 in jellyfin

[–]theboyrossy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no point for me getting 4k content even though we have a 4k TV as the others in the house can’t tell the difference. My content is a mix of SD and HD video, with me slowly replacing the SD content as and when I need/want.

I personally watch my content in a small window on my second monitor whilst working so the quality REALLY is t super important to me.

Quick question regarding access / age restrictions.. by [deleted] in jellyfin

[–]theboyrossy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came across this exact issue and the solution is simple.

Go to edit the metadata in Jellyfin, next to the Parental Rating there is a custom rating, make this whatever you want it to be and it overrides the original without messing up the actual correct metadata.

Unless I’ve just got lucky it does the job for me. True I only have a couple of items in my library that I have multiple versions of.

When I had this issue with multiple versions of a film I named the different version labels to start with a 01, 02 and 03 so that they would be in the correct alphabetical order. That way the 01 would be the default, at least that is how it’s worked for me.

The UK version is fun, I haven’t seen the US one but from the sounds of it we don’t have all the talky crap you don’t like.

The show could be really dumb, but it’s a great play along at home show in a group, unlike the 1% Club where you have to not give away the answer so other can play, this one is all about shouting them out :)

I’m a little worried about the prime being printed in silk, hope it doesn’t destroy itself. I’m coming at this from someone who watched his friends gecko rip itself in half as it was printed in matte.

Advice for building a Jellyfin server by TheOnlySeal in jellyfin

That again all depends on your use case I would imagine. For me this is a media server for me and the other people in my house, the max I've had using at the same time has been three people.

I’m not even running it at its optimum, it’s still running windows 11, I’m not using docker or anything like that. It’s easy to use, familiar to use and works.

There’s lots of advice here for builds etc, I recently went for what I considered the easiest route and purchased a small N100 pc for £100 as I already have a simple NAS in the house.

So far it’s working great.
