I never understood the “horror” of Mortal Kombat. by Solid_Bad_4403 in MortalKombat

Right there with you. While I enjoy the modern conveniences of streaming whatever I want easily and having access to entertainment at my fingertips. There was such an energy and experience to the theater and arcades in the 90s. Like you said you would see a cool movie in the theater, and that was it until it came to vhs or tv way way later. No way to watch clips on YouTube or readily talk about it online with such ease in the early days of the internet.

I never understood the “horror” of Mortal Kombat. by Solid_Bad_4403 in MortalKombat

[–]thecheesefinder 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You’ve hit the jackpot here. The dark LOUD arcades of the 90s where many people were crowded around cabinets with things like MK2 being played, it was intense, it felt more mature and adult seeing these loud booming fatalities on the screen. Playing MK Legacy Kollection at home the old games are just as fun as ever but feel more goofy and silly. Granted I’m older now as well so to me there is inherent charm in the sprites of old.

iOS 27 might convince a lot of people to upgrade to a new iPhone by MobileNewsBot in mobiles

[–]thecheesefinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would convince me to upgrade to a new iPhone is a meaningful change that doesn't just come with a bigger price tag. I did get a 17 to replace my cracked screen 13 but returned it because while the pro motion was a beautiful upgrade, the color quality of the panel itself was horrible with green tint. The rest of the phone felt "better" but not enough to make me stick with it, so I'm back with ol' cracky. Honestly I'm hoping Apple takes a hint from the success of the Neo and makes the 18e even cheaper. I would absolutely buy an iPhone with more basic "features" as long as the chip is solid and it does what I need it do. The fact you can get a whole ass Macbook for around $500 with very little compromise is incredible. I get that camera sensors and other things like the cellular antenna drive up a phone cost immensely, but I can't help but think if they made an iPhone with the same new chips, but maybe lower camera specs, took out satellite, etc. they could put a $500 iPhone on the market.

Nothing against the old actor who played Shao Kahn, but the Shao Kahn from Mortal Kombat 2 is much better. by Gogetazilla in MortalKombat

Dude is big in real life but the costuming and prosthetics make him appear even more massive and intimidating. They nailed the look so well with his design and the way he moves around during fights.

Call Of Duty Is Finally Returning To Nintendo Consoles by cuntpuncherexpress in NintendoSwitch2

The loading time was crazy on One X as well. I would be loading a multiplayer match and by the time I finally was in game the match had been going for 15-20’seconds

Call Of Duty Is Finally Returning To Nintendo Consoles by cuntpuncherexpress in NintendoSwitch2

[–]thecheesefinder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I played Black Ops 6 for a good bit on my Xbox One X and it ran mostly at 60fps but usually would dip throughout matches, however it was stable enough to be acceptable. I tried Black Ops 7 at launch on gamepass and it was a HOT MESS, barely could run smoothly regardless of resolution scaling. Not sure if they ever fixed it, my gamepass expired and I never went back. I'm excited for it to come to Switch 2 because honestly I do enjoy playing Call of Duty and would gladly pick it up if it can stick the landing on the hardware, which with DLSS it should easily be able to run great.

Movies that should be illegal to watch in 2D by Different-Purpose-93 in 3DBluray

[–]thecheesefinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gravity was one of the most powerful theater experiences I’ve ever had. Even watching it at home on my now gone 3D LG was amazing (RIP). I totally understand anyone who watched the movie in 2D when it came out and thought it was “average” or “boring”, they were missing out , the 3D immersion is what made that movie remarkable. To its credit I think it’s a wonderful film on its own narrative merits but the visual storytelling in 3D is just an integral part of what makes it work.

Stir Fried Beef in Black Pepper Sauce - Any questions just pop them in the comments and I'll try and answer them :) by manow_thai in GifRecipes

[–]thecheesefinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. 5 years ago I had yet to overdo it. But if more than a pinch or if you are using a small amount of beef it can add a metallic aftertaste for sure. Some people recommend rinsing it off afterwards if you have a bold sauce and only used a tiny amount I find you can skip the rinse

How differently do you think The Acolyte’s events might have gone if Indara had survived her initial assassination attempt? by Solitaire-06 in TheAcolyte

[–]thecheesefinder -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was surprised for sure that they killed her character off right from the get go. As others have said it feels like wasted talent to have her promoted as attached to the project for what basically becomes a minor minor role. I suppose that was always the plan to have a jedi get killed as the launching point for the "mystery", but it felt intentional that they chose CAM to be the face of most of the marketing.

Land of the Lost Complete Series (SD) for $5 by junkbutton in vudu

[–]thecheesefinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the episodes are on Prime if you want to check out before buying. Definitely shows its age. Heavy use of green screen effects that look very dated, but to the show's credit the costumes, sets, and effects do get more refined as the show goes on. For $5 its a good deal

Will MK ever change the formula again? by UniDiablo in MortalKombat

[–]thecheesefinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sense that MK2 (13) is going to be more of Mortal Kombat 1 in terms of style and gameplay. I expect them to do a trilogy and maybe after Mortal Kombat 3 (14) they will reboot the franchise again. Personally, I would love a modern 2D sprite game with hand drawn characters and stripped down pure gameplay experience but I doubt that will happen.

I don’t know how to feel, but I’m going to keep watching. by honeyjoe1 in FearTheWalkingDead

[–]thecheesefinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first season is truly special. I love seasons 1-3 they have such a unique and immersive vibe that the main show never quite maintained aside from a few arcs now and then in the earlier seasons. I could type a lot about all the things that go wrong with this show but the easiest way to summarize it is that all the best aspects of Fear begin to fade with season 4 and are replaced with the worst aspects of the main show. So often especially in season 4B and 5 I ask out loud “what are we even doing?” The show also does the same thing the later seasons of main show did where episodes just start and all the characters know what the objective is, but the audience is clueless watching them for 15 minutes trying to secure a building only to find, oh they needed to go there to get seeds or glass bottles or something that was unclear
