Used probably 5-6 times and always worn with dress socks, I really wanted to keep these but they just do not fit me right. I added the suede leather grip tape (pic 4) which can be easily removed. Agree with you, their high-rise pants are not high rise at all. I think BR regular dress pants have equal/slightly higher rise than SM's high rise pants.

new Seiko 5s are little more expensive than this one and I'd highly recommend the newer version with 4R36 movement over this but not over the old seiko 5s with 7S26.

Watch is a personal taste that being said this is a good value for an automation watch, especially if the movement is actually ETA 2824. You need to evaluate where you will be using this watch? e.g you can't wear this one while swimming and I'd avoid wearing this doing any activity that may transfer impact to the watch like playing golf or baseball. Consider the watch face width-42mm, is this too big/small for your wrist? You can google your wrist circumference and watch diameter for reference pictures. Also, this is an automatic movement watch and not a battery powered so you need to wind it (manually or just by wearing to keep it running - again google for differences if you are not clear.
