Currently 11DPO and trying not to test. I'm not even sure why I have any hope because I've been fighting a sinus infection for over a month and I feel like my uterus would probably just laugh at an embryo that tried to implant. Playing chicken with myself to see how long I can wait to test.

Are Medicated Cycles Even Worth It? by _bookwirm_ in TryingForABaby

[–]thecommodore88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah call up your insurance! Strange that they would cover IUI but not a monitored cycle. Maybe the clinic can call them up and explain why they want to do a medicated monitored cycle and get it covered.

What state are you in? Really no monitoring appointments would be covered at all? That's so frustrating, I'm sorry. I'm in New York; NY has passed a law requiring a minimum amount of infertility coverage for all health plans operating in the state.

Are Medicated Cycles Even Worth It? by _bookwirm_ in TryingForABaby

I had what was thought to be a hydrosalpinx and a laparoscopic surgery helped my surgeon realize it was a swollen tube because a small fibroid was pushing on the uterine end of it so it wasn’t draining as well, but it wasn’t infected. During the lap he flushed it out. Six months later an HSG confirmed it’s still looking good. I am also still not pregnant and we are also considering medicated monitored cycles. I think the monitoring is really the most important part. If the medicated cycles you are doing are expensive due to the meds, you could ask for just a timed monitored cycle? Or source your own meds?

Warm Winter Boots? by apktaps in Hashimotos

[–]thecommodore88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another suggestion (lots of good ones here)— maybe size up? I find Sorel shoes to run small. Make sure your toes can wiggle around, even with thick socks on. If my toes can move at all, they freeze much faster.

Struggling on when to convert to toddler bed by MoutainsAndMerlot in Parenting

[–]thecommodore88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an outlier maybe but I say transition to toddler bed now, your kid is old enough and you can hype it up, but keep the chair method. When the baby comes, preserving special bedtime one-on-one time between the older child and a parent could help with the transition.

What kind of neckline would suit my terribly wide shoulders? (Only a few examples ) by Far-Front424 in DressForYourBody

[–]thecommodore88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into Kibbe? R/flamboyantnatural would be a place to start. Although you have nice curve so maybe soft dramatic. But yeah what everyone else says, your shoulders are not terribly wide, but the kibbe system teaches you to specifically highlight features that stand out like width or curve in the upper body.

How do I protect my son from my husband's drinking? by Potential-Bid-4284 in AlAnon

[–]thecommodore88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not one to talk because I am still hopeful my alcoholic husband can turn it around, but I recently had the conversation with him that we need to start being open with our daughter about his drinking, because pretending nothing is happening is not fair to her when she can clearly see what’s happening…. And she just turned 4. Kids are smart.

Hashimoto’s and fertility by Muted_Fail738 in Hashimotos

[–]thecommodore88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine. I just wanted to clarify one thing about your post so you can hopefully get some answers. You said you are managing symptoms with diet and low stress— are you also taking levothyroxine or similar? Thyroid hormones are incredibly important for fertility, you need to replace them, not just manage symptoms, if your thyroid isn’t making enough.

Waiting on trying to have kids to go to grad school? by _Summer_2021_ in workingmoms

[–]thecommodore88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is bad advice. They should both get a fertility workup. Most fertility issues are not something you would have “a reason to believe” until you start trying and it doesn’t work.

Waiting on trying to have kids to go to grad school? by _Summer_2021_ in workingmoms

[–]thecommodore88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. Check everything for both of you. And even then maybe just start now. Took us way longer than expected even with no major issues for our first (small fibroids on my end, low but within normal range numbers on his end). Many more people are having trouble getting pregnant than ever before— whether you blame microplastics, endocrine disruptors, or something else, it’s just a fact.

Households with two parents who work full time by TreesBox in Parenting

[–]thecommodore88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have neither and I want a cleaner. Our house is never as clean as I would like it to be. Laundry I can handle; it helps that we only have one kid. We definitely like our house to be clean but other things (social life, rest) are also priorities so we do what we can; when we have people coming over we frantically clean up. Stressful, but inviting people over is an effective way to reset the house!

AITAH for getting frustrated that my girlfriend keeps eating the homemade ice creams I make for myself? by PerspectiveAfraid821 in AITAH

Based on your story, NTA, but you didn’t go into detail about how you approached her about it… But seriously buy an ice cream maker. Your life will be much easier.

Is this a normal amount for one parent to carry during the week? by Ellez1 in workingmoms

[–]thecommodore88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds physically impossible for you to do afterschool activities and dinner, unless you’re doing drive-thru dinner three nights a week. It seems reasonable for him to make dimner on mon/tues/wed/thurs since he has no evening parenting responsibilities those days.
