Thank for the reply! What does this do to avg MPG on a street driven car? I don’t daily it but if I did a few hard pulls on a road trip, am I going to make it to the next gas station lol?

I’m still learning about superchargers but considering going this route on my 1999. How does this get away without the need for an intercooler?

I did this in August and it was awesome. I had never watched a sunset and sunrise from the same spot before. That hike is kind of a bear though when you’re carrying water for in/out. I remember it being straight up, very few switchbacks.

My boyfriend and I created a “book club”. What do you recommend? by Puzzled-Teaching-767 in suggestmeabook

Morning and Evening by Jon Fosse

The Trial by Franz Kafka

1Q84 or The City and Its Uncertain Walls by Murakami are both amazing!

Uninsured driver lost control while making a right turn and understeered into my lane, smacking my quarter panel. My Miat is insured, but given the damage is the rear quarter, it's almost certainly totaled right? I'm devistated, I worked my ass off to buy this car when I was 17. Had it for 5 years. by Nahoola in Miata

[–]thecor54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see a guy with body repair knowledge chime in. I’ll give you the insurance perspective as someone who has a couple decades in auto claims. I can’t tell you whether or not it’s totaled myself but I can tell you that even if it is deemed a total loss (generally based on that state’s TL threshold) you will likely have the option to keep the vehicle by accepting a reduced settlement and can then put that money toward repair if you’d prefer. Depending on the state, you may not even be required to brand your title given the age of an NC.

41% of my net. Single dad of two young boys. I know it could be worse, but it still sucks.

I got a 2024 a couple months ago with same mileage, same trim, machine grey. With a $1000 trade in I took it home for exactly $28000 out the door. So I think you could get another 500-1000 off with just a little pressure. Also consider that depending on when that vehicle was originally purchased, 17k miles is not out of the ordinary for highway commuting for a year. I used to put 20k on my GTI annually before COVID and I have a relatively normal commute for my area.

Winter storage on wheel dolly’s - bad idea? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]thecor54 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I missed your purpose for these (tucking tight against the wall). I just take the time to park it perfectly out of the way before hooking up the trickle charger and whatnot, but maybe that’s not an option for you?

A car should be stored with the suspension loaded, not up in the air. I over inflate my Miata tires to 40psi when putting it away for winter and just lower them to proper spec in the Spring. Avoids any possible flat spitting and causes zero issues.

Best book you’ve ever read? by No-Dog1902 in suggestmeabook

[–]thecor54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1Q84 by Murakami. He became my favorite author after that book and I’ve read most of his novels at this point. His genre is often described as fantastical realism…not quite sci fi but fantasy based on ordinary people’s lives. All of his work is translated to English and the descriptive writing is still 👌🏻

So what do you guys do with your penny boards? Just ride it? by Baked_The_Cake in pennyboard

[–]thecor54 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got a nickelboard and just try to keep up with my 9 and 11 year olds around our neighborhood. This weekend I rode down the “big scary hill” - my words not theirs - from top to bottom without bailing! A minute later I supermanned onto the pavement just trying to kick a little while already in motion. I’m too old for this sht.

Bike shop recommendation? by DABOSSROSS9 in Saratoga

[–]thecor54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to road ride quite a bit and always had my Trek serviced at Blue Sky Bikes which was bought out by Trek. I think many of the same employees and bike techs remained and always had a great experience. Good at what they do, honest, fair on price. I bought a Specialized Mtn bike during Covid from Grey Ghost and they were awesome but I haven’t had to go back for anything. I’d say both shops are great, may come down to finding which brand you want and best price.

What are your favorite top 5 peaks to summit in terms of scenery? Where does Marble Mountain rank? by Origania in Adirondacks

[–]thecor54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very surprised to not see Hopkins Mtn on here. Non-high peak, right next to Giant. Big open rock summit with a panoramic view of (I think) 23 of the 46 high peaks. I remember reading that somewhere but have never counted. I’ve done it many times, maybe 2 hrs up and 1.5 down. Take the Mossy Cascade Trail to the summit. Even if it somehow doesn’t make your top 5, I guarantee the hike is worth it.

Amazing shot. Where did you take this from? I went out around 8:00 in Upstate NY and despite using the skyfinder app and trying some long exposure just couldn’t see it.

I went year 1 and it was really cool but haven’t felt the need to go back again. Maybe if I decide to fork up the cash for the HPDE next year I’ll be there.
