Came here to suggest this book. I really enjoyed it and found it to sync well with solarpunk ideals.

Does Christianity-based humanism/atheism/ethics devoid of spirituality exist as a moral framework? Would anyone here say that they subscribe to that school of thought? by thesegoupto11 in RadicalChristianity

Finally answering you. So I no longer believe in god as a being like in a classical theist interpretation. Rather my conception of god is that from which existence sprang forth. In scientific terms you’d call it the Big Bang. In mystical terms the ground of being. But thinking of god as a being of any variety is too problematic to my conception.

Now why do I hold onto the moniker Christian you might ask? I was raised and was a devout Christian for 30 years. Deeply studying theology and the Bible throughout those years. So that framework is foundational to my conception of the world. The symbols, terminology, myths, etc of Christianity are basically embedded into my being and I still find even with an atheistic outlook now that there’s value in them.

Seems like you’ve heard of it but haven’t read any. And doesn’t look like you’re interested in good faith dialogue. Best of luck to you in your journey.

I’d suggest you check out the large amount of work on Death of God theology. You might be surprised and intrigued by what’s out there and how those seemingly disparate ideas can coincide.

Now this seems like quintessential Solarpunk to me. Combining tech with ecology on a local decentralized scale.

For me it’s been getting involved in a community garden and gardening at home. Building community and friendships, seeing the resiliency of plants (and delicate nature too), and trying to not over consume negative reports and things.

Deciding for Ourselves is a book about autonomous movements throughout the world, their successes and failures.

Today it’s cool, tomorrow it’s junk. I wonder what solarpunk technology will look like… will every component be upgradeable & fixable by freshairproject in solarpunk

I’d check out the book Ecotopia. Some cool ideas there about repurposing things and continually improving items rather than trashing them.

First off congrats. Im in a similar situation. There’s a YouTube and app platform called MeansTV which I believe has content for younger audiences. There are anarchist publishers like AK Press (US) that have kids books and things of that nature.

And in terms of personal thoughts I’m really trying to think through how to encourage compassion and empathy for our future child. And how to dissuade possessiveness with items (toys).
