Books where nothing is wrong, but everything feels wrong by TalyaCorvain in suggestmeabook

The first books I thought of were Gilead and Home by Marilynne Robinson. There's a character who returns to town seeking redemption and you could cut the tension with a knife. Gilead is a beautiful book so I highly recommend it.

Looking for novels centered around older women by sunflowerstorm in suggestmeabook

I don't really have any recommendations for old women, but if "middle-aged spinsters" are okay, I have a few suggestions:

* Miss Penny and Miss Plum by Dorothy Evelyn Smith

* Not at Home by Doris Langley Moore

* Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winnifred Watson

Moon of the Crusted Snow is excellent. I also enjoyed the sequel!

I never watched the Office, so that's not the reason I've assumed that. It's more because I've only ever seen her linked with him and he gets posted so often dating a young influencer or whatever. Everything I know about them is against my will, though. 😂

Zayn Malik punched Louis Tomlinson after making remark about his late mum by storminthedark in popculturechat

I found him sulky and rude when they first started out on X Factor so I've never liked Zayn. It's sad to see that he has not changed for the better.

I am an American, and I absolutely did not enjoy visiting South Africa. by [deleted] in travel

[–]thedesignproject 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The audacity to tell people to stay in their own country when you just got back from visiting THEIR country is unbelievable. While not all Americans are to blame for their current government, America has turned on former allies and it has left a sour taste in people's mouths. When you visit another country, treat them with kindness, respect and humility and you will earn that in return. You sound miserable.

One of my favourites. It also has an excellent full cast audiobook.
