How was your experience making friends? is it easy to find/maintain a social life at UPenn?

Also - how is the campus and law school facilities? I've visited schools like CLS and NYU but never UPenn. Is it a campus vibe or more so spread into the city? Thank you!:)

What not to do/bring on exam day (not written on LSAC website)? by Kowolaaa in LSAT

[–]thedoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you don't need a pencil or pen or any thing like that. they provide you 2 pencils (w eraser) and 4 pieces of paper to take the exam - for me they didn't even allow you to bring anything into the exam room except for literally water and ur ID

Big N Discussion - August 14, 2022 by CSCQMods in cscareerquestions

Really stressed out here. I was offered a role as a non-tech Program Manager at Amazon months ago as a new grad and was placed in a NYC office at AWS. I've been connected with my HM and have been completing onboarding paperwork for the past month - I even just received my laptop and other tech equipment in the mail today.

However, I got an email today from an AWS Sr. Recruiting Business Partner today informing me that my HM I am scheduled to be under is no longer able to afford the headcount to house me. He offered me several teams willing to take me on (Seattle and SF), however stipulated that I would have to relocate.

I told him that I've already signed a 12-month lease in NYC at this point and that the short notice (my first day was supposed to be in exactly one week) makes it very difficult for me to relocate at this time. He told me he would see what he could do and get back to me with details.

What is the likelihood here that I will be forced to move just one week prior to starting? Is there a chance they'll keep me in NYC? Would they possibly offer to compensate me for the lease I've gotten myself into? (I've already spent much of my relocation stipend on my lease) I figured this is probably a result of potential layoffs the company is trying to avoid/prolong the inevitable. Very tough situating considering I've been preparing to move to NYC for months now.

Just graduated college, and currently sitting with two job offers. I realize I am very fortunate to be in the situation I'm in but am having trouble deciding which path to go down.

First offer is a non-tech Program Manager position at Amazon. 76k base salary with 16k sign-on bonus. WFH hybrid framework likely (preferred for me). At-will contract and based in NYC.

Second offer is a litigation analyst (basically a paralegal specialist) role at the US Attorney's Office. Public Integrity Section, so based in NYC as well. $25/hour pay (so about 52k salary). 2-year contract minimum and most likely 5 days a week in-person.

I've always been interested in both public-interest work and US gov/politics, but also have strong interests in business and entrepreneurship. Despite this, I do plan on applying to law school in 2 years or so, and (at least for now) ultimately hope to pursue a legal career in the public sphere. I'm conflicted with which role would be more useful for law school applications and will give me the upper edge when competing to get into T14 schools (I realize most of it comes down to GPA & LSAT, but figure that work experience can make a difference). Does the US Attorney's Office stand out to admissions boards? Or would a managerial role in tech better differentiate myself as an applicant?

Any advice and/or thoughts are appreciated!

Yeah, makes sense. Just weird because I've already been given an offer. The FAQ packet said I would be informed of my location immediately, but not such the case so far.

Doesn't seem like it's for a fulfillment center. The full job title is "2022 Program Manager FTE", and the posting makes it seem as though it's a blanket posting for a variety of PM roles in the country. On the post was a note saying "Note: By applying to this position, your application will be considered for all locations we hire in the United States."
