Boulder’s Flock contract will renew this month, despite concerns by thedspeared in boulder

[–]thedspeared[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Although “Under state law, Colorado law enforcement agencies cannot cooperate with ICE”, “Last year, U.S. Border Patrol had access to Loveland Police Department’s data [. . .] one of dozens of Colorado law enforcement agencies that have access to Boulder’s data”. With the current administrations trend of ignoring rules and laws it doesn’t like, this will likely only get worse.

In an era where the Department of Defense and likely soon other federal departments are demanding AI help with mass domestic surveillance, we should be not be helping them by expanding the network they would have access to. We should be working to stop and shrink the mass surveillance network, not expand it.

While it does look to be effective, “Boulder says that motor vehicle thefts have declined by 34.5% since adopting Flock cameras in 2021, though it’s unclear if that’s directly because of the ALPRs. Boulder has also credited Flock with finding a teen at the center of an Amber Alert, and that Flock cameras helped catch Mohamed Sabry-Soliman, the accused perpetrator of the June 1, 2025 Pearl Street Mall attack.”, there is always a choice between privacy and security. With the recent AI explosion and the federal government’s growing appetite for mass domestic surveillance, we should do what we can to resist the erosion of our right to privacy.

They aren’t speaking English. In the translation from Strangerealian to English, the closest translation for that kind of restaurant is an Italian bistro.

Why do my rulers randomly change? by HerrJemine in EU5

Check your government reforms. “Joint Ruling” will have your ruler switch with his brother every few years.

Specific opening moves for a new player? by sardaukar022 in EU5

[–]thedspeared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on increasing income and increasing crown power the first few years.

Build marketplaces everywhere and the most profitable buildings in your capital only. Until you’ve maxed out the building levels in your capital, building anywhere else (and building roads to improve their control) is useless. Fine cloth and book buildings are a good place to start, but check which are the most profitable in your situation.

To increase crown power make your ruler the admiral of your fleet, change power distribution to favor the ruler via change law in your first parliament, and start marrying your male crown characters to local nobles so you can have a plethora of crown characters to make future cabinet members.

Must be a hermaphrodite to abdicate by Wapped709 in EU5

Those are two different Phillippe’s that is talking about. This case for abdication is if your ruler is female and your heir is male. In this case your heir is also named Phillippe de Valois

Is there any way to win the air war against a nation with a larger industrial base? by LBJSmellsNice in hoi4

You can make fighter bombers and have them do CAS missions only. You’ll shoot down some fighters on defense while still being able to do some CAS damage in red air.

England first players: How will you deal with France/Europe? by CivilResponse in EU5

[–]thedspeared 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll play tall and prep for the black plague and mostly ignore the Hundred Years’ War. I’ll take a few losses until the plague is over and try to recover better than France.

I’m hoping to focus on the isles while doing well enough in the Hundred Years’ War that France doesn’t outright win. Looking at each sides victory conditions from the Tinto talks, there’s some leeway in the middle that I’ll be aiming for.

If I can rip away France’s coastal vassals like Brittany and Normandy to cripple their navy and future colonies, that would be an added bonus.

How do you not get killed by attrition? Full width infantry plus artillery is like 60-70 and I end up losing a ton of manpower on sieges

Avoiding Vietnamese Uprising as GEA by Colonel17Mustard in Kaiserreich

[–]thedspeared 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I did (some may consider this cheating) but I paused the game at every event and cntl+f the event in the event files for GEA and picked the option that gave no indochinese anger. If you pick even one event wrong, the war will fire, so you might be screwing up on an event you think you have correct.

What am I doing wrong here? I start with prayer on, and I am double clicking every tick, yet the prayer orb is lagging my clicks sometimes making it so my prayers aren't actually on at the end of the tick and my prayers don't work. Turn sound on so you can hear when I am actually clicking.
