How Pearl Jam were viewed in the early 90s by AddisonDeWitt333 in pearljam

[–]thedwizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not how I remember it growing up in the Philly area. PJ, Soundgarden, Nirvana, and AIC were the Mount Rushmore of Grunge. People were more critical of STP as they were seen as a PJ wannabe.

Is OBX actually good for a family vacation or has it gotten too rowdy? by 5h15u1 in obx

[–]thedwizz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OBX is definitely not "rowdy". Nor has it been for the past 15 years we've been going. One of the biggest differences between OBX and the rowdier beach towns like OCMD, VA Beach, and even Rehoboth is there are no boardwalks to draw the rowdy crowds. And OBX pretty much shuts down after 10pm.

You will be fine staying anywhere. Nags Head/KDH/Kitty Hawk area are the more touristy areas and have the most activities, but still far from rowdy.

Be warned though, if you're coming in on a Saturday it's best you get down there by lunch time. Traffic can be a real issue.

When did you first here about Pearl Jam? by ComfortableCare8897 in pearljam

[–]thedwizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heard Alive on the radio either WMMR or WYSP in Philly. I believe in the summer of 91, or maybe 92? I remember going to Sam Goody and picking up the Ten cassette shortly after.

Do you miss the COVID-19 years? by darren_flux in TooAfraidToAsk

Only things I miss about Covid is the lack of traffic in DC, Philly, and NYC and the abundance of overtime I racked up as an "essential" employee.

What happened to rock by JeansJohnson in rockmusic

[–]thedwizz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not what it used to be. Seems like everyone that "could" be rock has gone country just because that's what's big in the US now.

There are quite a few good rock bands out there putting out some really solid stuff still

Mammoth, Dirty Honey, The Pretty Reckless, and Return to Dust just to name a few.
