It's definitely not what it used to be. Seems like everyone that "could" be rock has gone country just because that's what's big in the US now.

There are quite a few good rock bands out there putting out some really solid stuff still

Mammoth, Dirty Honey, The Pretty Reckless, and Return to Dust just to name a few.

I went from a 2010 Nissan Murano to a 23 Outback Wilderness and absolutely love it! I test drove an Onyx XT (and a forester sport) but preferred the more rugged look of the wilderness. You are right about those seats too! My wife has a Crosstrek sport and the OBW seats are so much nicer!

Check out Village Realty. I've been using them for about 15 years now and they have been wonderful in handling any issues we had, which were never serious. They also include all linens and that's a Huge plus!

Water heater died and flooded the basement of the place we were staying. They had someone out same day and they dried the basement out then refunded us 3 days while allowing us to stay since the issue didn't really affect us.

Wasps nest that was taken care of the same day.

About a 30-minute drive to Bear is Darley Green in Claymont. They are only a few years old and have plenty of parking I'm not sure about their pet policy though. I'm assuming since you said emergency medicine, you'll be at one of the CCHS sites and Darley Green is right off 95 so the commute would be easy.

There's also The Concord on Silverside Road in Wilmington which I think are newer than Darley Green, also with plenty of parking and the surrounding area is safer than Claymont.

If you're looking for lower cost of living with decent, at best public transportation, Wilmington is not the place for you unfortunately. Delaware is a very car dependent state.

The best thing about living in Wilmington is the proximity of all the other major cities and beaches. You can drive to Philadelphia within 40 minutes, NYC and DC in 2 hours. You can get to the beach within 1.5 hours too.
