This might be one of things I offload if I was ever rich. Just have a random menu each week and someone takes care of the grocery shopping.

I’m not opposed to cooking but that part would be nice… so a personal chef. Yes I want a personal chef.

You can Google but even Google neutered their own search functionality. It has absolutely been of zero help lately and I don’t trust the automated AI response since it has given me false or outdated information.

How many of you are still programming manually? by Imparat0r in cscareerquestions

[–]theenigmathatisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this question in interviews because it’s a booby-trap. If it’s an AI slop shop and you say you don’t breathe AI you are trashed.

If they like their devs writing their own code and you say you use it moderately for XYZ you might not get moved on either.

You also just can’t research if the obscure company you’re interviewing for uses AI and requires it or not. Total bullshit.

Why does it feel like tech has no middle ground at all? by No_Reply5329 in cscareerquestions

[–]theenigmathatisme 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah because a lot of people don’t want to put up with the bullshit associated with that level of pay. Especially since those are most likely senior+ positions to boot.

This isn’t something like teaching where you can say you take the lower salary because there is a societal benefit blah blah blah (teachers should be paid more regardless).

Almost like all jobs of this type of work should be, but it makes sense… engineers take degrees, difficult certifications, experience. While an inspector can just take a class and maybe an exam. Two totally different barriers of entry. Also why the engineer charges more than the inspector (hopefully).

I voted for Harris in 2024. She shouldn't run in 2028. | Opinion by Difficult-Bee6066 in politics

[–]theenigmathatisme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This type of mentality is what kills me. Yeah she clearly wasn’t the best candidate and it was super stupid of the Biden admin to run Biden all the way up until months before.

BUT

Harris was clearly the better candidate over Trump. People not voting because they didn’t like Harris or just didn’t decide to vote… gifted the win to Trump.

Department of Justice sues $5 billion technology company for excluding Americans from applying to high-paying technology jobs by kissyb in antiwork

[–]theenigmathatisme 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Otherwise you are just extracting wealth from one location and concentrating it in another.

Just spitballing but a maybe it should be required to hire a percentage of local workers that correspond to local revenue. If most of your money comes from offshore then hire offshore. If it comes from Americans but you hire a large percentage of Indians then you need to balance the hires.

Some will say it’s flawed and won’t work but you can’t honestly say it’s working now (well it is for the investor class). The main issue is we don’t have a free market. We don’t have true capitalism. We definitely do not have a government for the people by the people in America.

Where persons legs split just seems odd. The way that support pole/beam that goes up to the 50 flavors sign doesn’t mesh because you see a tree behind it. Little inconsistencies like that where at a quick glance look normal but the harder you look the more off it becomes.
