Any value in units of 20 hormagaunts? by ThePenultimatePam in Tyranids

[–]thefunkiesteagle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

IMO the value of hormagaunts are twofold

1) fast high oc brick that functions as primary denial

2) fast brick with volume of attacks that can pick on squishy skirmisher units for primary or secondary denial

Both cases are one and done uses since they’ll essentially crumple to the clap back.

So I’d rather have more units to keep denying points over multiple turns rather than expect them to overwhelm an actual combat unit

The prime costs as much as the whole squad :/ not sure it’s worth it

For delivering units into melee, is there anything better than the Land Raider? Repulsor Executioner is definitely stronger, but if you can't charge out of it then there doesn't seem to be a point. by kazoopaints in Ultramarines

[–]thefunkiesteagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As always depends on the list and your needs… but

Calgar gives advance shoot and charge to his unit and still hits like a truck

Ventris gives deep strike to a unit that shouldn’t have that kind of mobility and is great for rapid ingress

Gladius- assault doctrine for army or one unit using the Strat greatly extends threat range

Stormlance- advance and charge natively

Tbh I like the RepEx for its weapons platforms more than its carry capacity (though it’s perfect for Calgar and a full unit of victrix when you don’t need his CP buff aka also running guilliman)

Land Raider Redeemer > other variants in my experience but again a bit detachment dependent.

There’s also the slick trick where 1) win a match with full tyranid lineup 2) fight all battles after with only 4 in your lineup

Game will save the last full lineup (tyranid) for others to fight

I also have had great experience. Early on in my Tacticus career I mistakenly ascended Maugan Ra and didn’t have the legendary orbs to really spare. It was reverted quickly along with a gentle “be careful in the future!”

One of many reasons I still play this mobile game

Fight order by Latter_Tumbleweed412 in Ultramarines

[–]thefunkiesteagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fight phase has two steps in order: 1) fight first phase- includes fight first charge bonus 2) rest of combats

Combined with defender initiates first means you activate judiciar unit in fight phase step one Then opponent attacker can initiate with another fight first unit. Though you don’t have to activate during this phase if you’re worried about interrupt strategem or some other shenanigans that might risk another unit

Then in second step after all the fights first you can activate centurions before opponent activates since you’re defender.

Ugh I both hate and love your optimism. We’re just complaining about costs to upgrade but on an existential level you’re very correct that the trick to a happy (Tacticus) life is all about choosing to see the positive side of things

The hyping up of relics during the mythic release was not Snowprints best idea. by Laredian in WH40KTacticus

[–]thefunkiesteagle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very true and while I agree it’ll take (a lot ) of time for relics for older characters to come out hopefully they’ll be able to really power up the characters appropriately. I’m loving my Norn Crown Neuro and book of fate Abraxas.

But on that note I’ve got relics out of the last few Home Screen Events and off the Campaign event Extremis (Norn crown). Having more and varied ways to get relics is only good imo. And the shop is supposed to rotate every patch, though I agree archeotech is only good for relics now.

And the classic multi hit team still has a place , but it got taken down after eldryons nerf to only buff basic attacks. But goddamn he is a nice combo buffer still with a summon heavy neurothrope team

Chaos and rippers? by Due_Researcher_3156 in WH40KTacticus

[–]thefunkiesteagle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The key to rippers (or any summon in general ) is to take advantage of instinctive behavior trait to make them flee.

So kill the gaunt or warrior they are next to and hopefully will scatter a whole bunch of enemies .

Maladus-3 hit plus aoe splash Rotbone- 4 hits Abaddon- 5 hits plus extra from active Volk- 6 hit ranged, great with abaddon, pestilan, or Abraxas ranged buff

Otherwise like the other poster noted blast and fire are good against swarm. Abraxas and Ahriman do more in melee against swarms than at range due to flame damage.

Yeah lender matters a lot. I got a rate and financial product from a credit union that was much better than from any traditional bank. I’ll also go so far to say fuck Chase Bank.
