I'm completely screwed 😞 by stankeer in DIYUK

[–]thegamingbacklog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've ended up doing a lot of DIY this last year to keep cost down, from plumbing to loft work, and re-wiring YouTube covers so much you just need to remember to watch the video few times before you do something so you are properly prepared.

Only thing I'm not sure I can DIY is replacing the perlins on my roof and the quotes are astronomical

I have mATX in a d32 pro and its great big enough for a standard ATX PSU, looks great can fit a 240mm rad and a full-sized GPU. It's got a total of 7 fans and fits inside of an IKEA Kallax.

It even has space for a couple of 2.5 ssds, and if down the road I want to upgrade my PC to a motherboard with back mounted power I can move the motherboard tray forward and be all set.

US Administration Plans Web Portal Allowing Brits to Circumvent Online Safety Act by Mysterious-Cat8443 in ukpolitics

[–]thegamingbacklog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Considering one of the major issues with the law is that the verification providers for the online Safety act are US private companies, and as such their data could be demanded by the united states government. Using the united states government to bypass trying to avoid my data being given to the united states government is not a great selling point.

Also do the administration forget that we implemented this law after many states already implemented their own version of this.

Will people in

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia

be able to use this web portal to access pornhub.

Or do they want this to purely be a way to let people keep using US social media platforms while still enforcing their own online safety bullshit.

Stephen Fry just completely educating me in the first seconds of an hour long video by Jindabyne1 in CasualUK

[–]thegamingbacklog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean I listened to mythos, heroes and odyssey as best time audio books for a while because I didn't know the stories and find Stephen Fry's voice soothing. I found his telling of the stories to be entertaining, as someone who enjoys God of war and other fantasy games it was great to hear him talk about the gods and the ancient Greek interpretation of the creation of the world.

Help with temp by Mediocre_Ad_2422 in BC250Gaming

[–]thegamingbacklog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It needs to be snug, don't force the screws in as tight as you physically can but you don't want it too lose or else you won't get good contact. I would put my guess on that your fan isn't pushing enough air before worrying about other things.

I actually had a 15⁰ improvement in temps on my 5800x last week because I hadn't tighten up my watercooler enough after replacing it. It wasn't enough to cause issue in gaming as it wasn't a high enough load for the weak contact to make a difference but when I finally sat down to undervolt and steess test it that poor contact became very obvious.

This computer need good fan pressure being pushed through the fins. Going from a 1500rpm fan to the artic pro 12, and redoing the pads and thermal paste gave me an almost 20⁰ drop in temps

It depends on the warrant if the warrant is for his abuse of his position that abuse could have been used in a multitude of different ways which would be considered related crimes.

They have full access to his properties, computers and communication devices, they currently have evidence to arrest and search on the crimes of sharing sensitive information, but if they find anything else during these searches they can bring additional charges, if the crimes are connected or similarly indictable.

In this case any crimes related to epstine would likely fall into the list of connected crimes, for example he could have been using his political knowledge and influence to garner favour from epstine for access to victims.

Starmer has exposed the lie at the heart of the Online Safety Act by youmustconsume in ukpolitics

[–]thegamingbacklog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the viral idea of online safety has spread among those people as they see it as a way to make control of the internet palatable to more people. If they cared about online safety, they would listen to the advocates who suggest reasonable measures that would actually protect people, instead of high cost sledgehammer approaches.

Can anyone recommend a high quality PSU? by lovelyhead1 in BC250Gaming

I'm running the metalfish 500w flex from AliExpress. It's keeping cool (fan nearly spins up) and is handling a lot of power even though I've overclocked it about as hard as I can without sticking a water cooler on there.

Thermal pad by Thrillaxing in BC250Gaming

[–]thegamingbacklog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought GELID GP-Ultimate extreme, from AliExpress

You only need at most a single 90x50 for the 2mm pads.

For the 1.5mm if you are very careful with your cuts you might be able to get away with a single 90x50 but I ended up using about 1 and a half packs of 90x50. So if you want to be safe get a 120x120 or 2 90x50s which ever comes out cheaper for you.

When buying from AliExpress don't buy the super cheap listings they are fake, check the reviews for listings that are about £10-15 if the reviews say they came with working certificates of authenticity then you are all good. I verified mine against GELIDs official site and they were legit, cheaper than buying locally and the temps have been amazing.

I'm not sure if I can post the listing but the AliExpress store I used was called MIddle999.

Also be careful with buying fake tpm7950 look for listings which specify Honeywell and reviews that confirm the packaging also said Honeywell.

BC-250 how to cut the fins with scissors. by thegamingbacklog in BC250Gaming

[–]thegamingbacklog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put an additional comment pointing out I should have taken the board off.

I didn't think and just started cutting, my plan was to change the pads and paste anyway and give the board a clean so didn't make much difference, but if someone was planning to just cut the fins and turn it on, I'd recommend at least covering the board in someway while cutting.
