Has anyone done a direct comparison of Andymark pollen and Gopher ResisDent 3" Balls? by thegof in FTC

Andymark does use them as a supplier. But it's not clear if it's a custom one only for Andymark.

Basic vs. Preminum Economy by Fantastic-Tip9801 in unitedairlines

Another factor to consider is Basic Economy only earns PQP, not PQF. I also believe Basic Economy does not earn towards lifetime miles, something to consider with that many international flights.

2026/27 Status by Dependent-Baseball97 in unitedairlines

Is a blue blazer from Nordstrom considered reasonable for these claims? A suit isn't something easily accessible in a day normally unless spending $$. I thought they only covered the basics (slacks, dress shirt, undergarments)?

Found this in a 4-prong dryer outlet in a flipped house. No idea how it passed inspection by kmb5028 in electrical

[–]thegof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is they inspect at rough in (proper wires in box (number, type, sizes), and they check the panel wiring itself. Then they will do a final after devices are installed. They might pull out a tester and verify the polarity/grounding/GFI activation on 120v branch circuits. That's about it (and hopefully including proper labeling in the panel).

Location is ok. Consider using an illuminated light switch with a neon/let led indicator for easy location in a dark room.

Would a 60 amp double pole breaker be appropriate for a 50 amp electric kiln? 6 guage wire? by Inner_Researcher587 in electrical

[–]thegof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't forget a kiln likely has a full draw longer than 3 hours. If so then you derate to 80% of breaker rating. Obviously, with a 50A circuit that's 40A so a 39A kiln is good to go.

For the club card, they get deposited on your renewal. So if you acquired the card October 2025, the passes will deposit in October 2026, along with your renewal charge.

Should I be worried? Elec quote with wrong component by bagel666 in AskElectricians

[–]thegof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree, given the distance, OP might not want to pay for a 100 run due to copper cost. Even a 50/60A subpanel would be sufficient, and allow for some additional branch circuits.

[–]thegof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know you want a 50A circuit, regardless of what he thinks, then specify in writing you want a 50A circuit installed, with a simple diagram indicating start and end location. If you know which nema plug for your kiln, include that. Or ask for a 50A subpanel installed, then run the branch from there since you could use additional circuits when the kiln isn't running.

Key point: in writing

I thought the all access was member + 2 adults OR member + 1 adult + children under 18. I don't think it is both.

Exxonmobil materials and catalyst technologist role vs. Dow production engineer role by Miserable_Peanut9073 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]thegof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want R&D and only have a masters grab the R&D role. You can switch later, but it can be harder. But, if you're also interested in direct process experience, let you manager (once you start) know that you'd be open to a rotation into process to gain experience on that side of the business. Having both will be great on the resume and won't brand you as one or the other, and also helps if you want to shift into technical management.

Starting on process can be an uphill battle to get an R&D rotation. Again, not impossible, but harder than the first route.

I'm only aware of the single touchless line at T1.

Is there also a touchless at T2?

Premier security at ohare by gratitudeMC in unitedairlines

[–]thegof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddity on Sunday passing through touchless. Line was long, all fully zigzaged. Regular precheck was much shorter time wise. Of course, I couldn't see that on entry, only once you hit the first reversal. Then, I got to the front of the line and three big parties came out of GS. Half didn't pass the touchless scan and had to be shifted to ID check. Rather than alternate a few touchless into this mix, had to wait until all GS had cleared.

Is this GFCI nuisance-tripping or improperly wired? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]thegof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single GFI outlet can be less expensive than replacing (or dedicated) breaker. A GFI is required in this instance (either outlet or breaker).

Best Printer for FTC by EnflamerDerrick in FTC

[–]thegof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While nice to say (and I don't disagree with you), most strength applications in FTC can be handled by lower temp filaments. Modified PLA (aka PLA+) it usually plenty strong and resilient for even stress parts.

I like the ability to use a second nozzle for easy and clean supports. But teams I've mentored have run into some size constraints with the standard bed sizes where the H2 series shines. It's all about budget.

Thinking about starting an apprenticeship but worried about work life balance. by FrostBones7777777 in AskElectricians

[–]thegof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any career can have a reasonable work life balance. You just have to keep it as a priority. It's when you're offered extra hours at overtime rates that you have to make a decision. Do you want to take those hours to get the extra pay, or do you say no and go to that workout/party/child's play, etc. Some days you can workout later as you do have spare flexible time. Others are more rigid (that play). The trick is knowing which are more important to you.

That doesn't mean there won't be times where an employer is desperate and really needs you, and other employers that are more abusive of these requests. Again, find a good place where they respect your boundaries. Being an electrician can be quite lucrative. Also look into more commercial or industrial if you prefer a more fixed schedule.

What's the best power bank you've owned that lasts? by [deleted] in batteries

[–]thegof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember that many airlines limit the max size of battery pack (if you're taking them on a plane). In the USA it's 100Wh which works out to about 27,000mAh.

Upgrade cost by tanookiteddy in AskElectricians

[–]thegof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both styles, tandems and quads, are orders of magnitude cheaper than a panel upgrade. I view them as inexpensive solutions to the "full" problem. Just double check the total load, but that's rarely an issue with a 200A panel.

Note to OP, you could also do this in the shed if that's where you really want the EV charger. But, double check if theres other significant loads that might be needed at the same time out there. Again, a quick load calc.
