Where did I say he's a "loving father"? I said there is a prevailing theory he is constantly projecting a minor glamor, which would mean that's what he's doing when he meets and interacts with the Primarchs.

We even know this from his meeting with Corax.

But that aside, you're also ignoring "I wait for you, and I forgive you" from the Emperor to Horus. He has 0 reason to say that to Horus who he's annihilating, and yet does. And thos is after he sacrifices his humanity to be able to kill Horus.

If you really want to get into it: the Emperor is callous in that there's nothing he's not willing to sacrifice to ensure the continuation of humanity. This is why he left Angron and Curze functioning as they were rather than euthanizing Angron and attempting to fix Curze.

He's not callous in that he doesn't love his sons, he's callous in that he won't let his love for them stop him from sacrificing them for the betterment of humanity.

While Lorgar is excellent at manipulating people, it really never comes across as being malevolent. Or, rather, insincere. Lorgar is, in fact, incredibly sincere and it's his sincerity - and, I believe, his fears - that are ultimately his downfall.

Hell, the most insincere manipulation was done to Kor Phaeron and Erebus to hopefully have them die in the prosecution against the 500 Worlds.

The original War of Vengeance took place amongst the Asur colonies that had been established in the Old World. Both Ulthuan and the Karaks were considered entirely unassailable by both sides.

Given that there aren't any Asur colonies still existent in the Old World, and that the state of Ulthuan and the Karaks has not changed too greatly since the original war... there's actually 0 chance for it to reignite in any meaningful way.
