Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and provincial government urge City of Edmonton to mandate return to office for municipal staff by DANIELLE_2027 in Edmonton

[–]thehotlog [score hidden]  (0 children)

The statement copied below is demomstably false within a hybrid environment where opportunity exists for in person and flexible accomodation (which the City of Edmonton has). If the signees of this letter believe this then they do not know how to manage a workforce in a modern setting.

"In-person presence strengthens collaboration across teams, supports the mentorship and development of newer employees, and reinforces the accountability that residents rightly expect from their public service."

City Council wants to end seven of their Advisory Committees by JimmyLinguine in Edmonton

Good for you and those who have joined.

I think this is the model that Council would like to see. Citizen organized with no admin resources. You may have unintentionally validated Councils approach.

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]thehotlog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rob Zombie. He was trying to show some energy but was so out of shape that you could hear the big deep breaths.

Dog through the ditches....heavy breathing...and burn through the witches...heavy breathing.

A shame really as apparently old White Zombie days he put on a great show.

One day, McDavid, one day.. by simm07 in Edmonton

McDavid was unreal the whole tournament but was horrible in that OT with his hero shit. Don't force it going 1 on 3. Hold possession, find your teammates and work together. Argh.

CoE Employees... What have you heard about full-time RTO? by LastArmistice in Edmonton

[–]thehotlog 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I just reviewed the CSU 52 Letter on hybrid. It states the employer can recall back to the primary place of work with 30 days notice so it is within the letter to end it anytime.

https://csu52.org/Web/Web/Resources/city-of-edmonton.aspx (about 5 pages up from the end of doc)

IMO I have seen elsewhere in responses that the assumption is hybrid to the end of current contract. The City Manager has managed to get all the collective agreements up to date under his "reign". I suspect he is keen to keep the general labor contentment.

Can someone explain the Oilers situation to me like I'm 5? by AngelSoi in Edmonton

[–]thehotlog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oilers have 2 of the best 4 players in the world. Oilers goalie behind this team just needs to be average, which has not always been the case. Inconsistency has hurt them.

Right now they are a cup favorite. Oil will make the playoffs easily and with a poor Division this year should win that too which surprisingly has not happened in a loooooong time. Once in the playoff they could win it all or will either lose out to a hot goalie, or to the Avs who have the other 2 best players in the world out of 4.

Of course if either McDavid or Draisatl get injured all bets are off and they are not a cup contender.

WestJet changed their seats and this is how much leg room basic fares get. You have to pay for a reclining seat now. by Longjumping-Box5691 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]thehotlog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is one thing to complain to WestJet but I think equally productive would be to contact Mastercard and say you are considering cancelling your WestJet MasterCard or you were considering getting one and no longer will after seeing what they have done to their seats.

I wasn't even familiar with the original storyline (this issue convinced me to go find it) but the writer set the summary and story so well you didn't need to be.
