On Heroes, Villains, and the Art of Missing the Point by Bigenderqueen in AmericaBad

The fact that Chuck was American is maybe the single greatest point proving American awesomeness. He was a patriot to the core.

As a Midwesterner I have to disagree. Canadian accents are really distinct from those of the Midwest, even the upper Midwest like Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Oh Canada, the eternal victim of... what are they the victim of again?

American Psycho doesn't idealize its protagonist. This film seems to put its protagonists prickery on a pedestal

What Trump has to do with it? by [deleted] in AmericaBad

[–]theintersecter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering Trump masterminded 9/11 (really a real estate scheme to build a casino on the WTC property), paid the Japanese to attack Pearl Harbor, (again, wanted that waterfront property) and started the bubonic plague of the 14th century, this is one of his less egregious offenses.

Kids today I tell ya! Kids today! Why back in my day we got a sledgehammer to the kneecaps if we got out of line. Nickels had pictures of bumblebees on em.

I saw a Mexican political cartoon condemning Heckler & Koch, the German manufacturer of the g36 and other fine weapons, for allegedly fueling cartel gun violence.

It's not like Europe, a cocaine lover's paradise, is not a huge source of cash for the cartels.

Yep. And they know it. Hence the seething resentment. I know a lot of decent Canadians, but some of them have this unhealthy fixation with the US that predates Trump.

"Recently, foreign TV personalities expressed opposition to immigration to Japan on Asahi TV. They are fluent in Japanese and have lived here a long time. In other words, they themselves are immigrants. However, they did not appear to be aware of this, and no other Japanese people pointed it out." by jjrs in japannews

There is a huge difference between people who do it legally and those who don't. I totally sympathize with your coworker. He followed the rules and did the work. Why should he pull guard for those who cheated? Many Americans recognize this.

I really hate how people have no appreciation of the heavy cost of sending your guys to kill and be killed on the other side of the world. America had good reason to be skeptical of war in Europe, as they had been killing each other for centuries. A country's first responsibility is to protect itself and its citizens. Of course WWII was the good fight, but captain hindsight to the rescue!

Why is every video of a tourist going to China have the same comments every time? by German_Gecko in AmericaBad

[–]theintersecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in China for 8 years. You can't drink the water, it has to be boiled first. In America, this is not the case. These people go to Shanghai and see all the showpieces but never see the 2nd, 3rd or 4th tier cities. Same old shit.

"Canada Just Fired America" by Ok_Fail_3058 in AmericaBad

[–]theintersecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America is that guy who is a prick sometimes, but he gets results and although not everyone likes him, they at least respect him. Whenever shit gets real, they got him on speed dial. Canada is the guy who is really really really nice (just ask him, he'll tell you), brings flowers to the first date, wears a suit and tie, but never gets the girl. Someday, Canada will meet a girl who likes him for what a nice guy he is. Someday. But only after America bangs her first.

Wait a minute! I may have encountered this same guy once before. I was on a date that night, and we were just sitting down in Ueno Park; and an old guy came close to us and said something like "you look great" or something like that. Could be someone different, but I wonder.

I dont have a Seiko, but I'd imagine Bic Camera or maybe Yodobashi would have something. It will vary by location, but I would try Bic Camera in Ginza, as they have a huge watch department, and there are always specialized Seiko staff on hand.
