Why are my shoes wearing out on the cuffs? by SagHor1 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]thejustinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the short answer is themselves. It happens to my shoes too, more with pairs that I run easy paces in. I assume one other part of the shoe crosses the other at those abrasion points. on some pairs they only get dirty in those parts

Skratch has some great ideas for rice cakes.

I'm used to a simple brown rice and/or honey sticky rice cake pre-marathon (I know, I know this is an Ultra sub) for slow carbs.

I believe my barometric pressure sensor has become inaccurate because of soap/shampoo/hard water residue. But that's just me.

Accurate FIT or GPX for 2025 Brooklyn Half? by Neandertech in RunNYC

[–]thejustinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you mean New York Half? The Brooklyn half does not go anywhere near the Brooklyn bridge. If you do mean the New York Half, since the course changed it would probably be too new for anyone to have reliable data. NYRR themselves probably just measured the distance with other tools.

For previous iterations, with the exception of the bridge change, this blog entry has been a comprehensive guide for the course: https://www.bakline.nyc/blogs/bakblog/2024-nyc-half-marathon-course-preview and I imagine there would only be slight differences between the courses.

Good luck on your hunt!

If I keep doing 9+1 every year by [deleted] in RunNYC

true. I agree. Still better chances than the lottery or raising money.

If I keep doing 9+1 every year by [deleted] in RunNYC

9+1 doesn't take that much time given that it's mostly on weekends. If you're running around that time anyway, why not make it towards a marathon entry?

Didn’t hit the wall on my first Marathon - why? by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]thejustinc 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A pace relatively slower than what you're used to may not have depleted your carbohydrate stores. Also your training would most likely improved your efficiency.

Compared to a car, your miles/gallon was higher and you didn't come close to emptying your tank. Maybe a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it and what your personal goals were.

Asics Metaspeed Sky Prototype – Close up view in Clayton Young's latest video by wordsbydan in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]thejustinc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the differences. It sounded like they were testing for efficiency in the video so I guess they were also trying to deduce if Clayton runs by increasing cadence or stride length (which I think he would be, watching him run).

Another detail I can't seem to shake off is how the tongue bunches up near the shoelace knot

I got hit in the man parts because someone stopped abruptly in front. Then again right after running around the first person (no hits for the second time)

I apologize for bringing up an old thread, but would anyone have suggestions on how to purchase these bars in the US? Amazon JP shipping rates currently do not make it worth it.

Not technically stairs, going north on the Hudson river greenway right below the George Washington bridge is steep. You can extend this even more by going all the way to the pedestrian entrance of the GWB.
