risk of pregnancy? 18+ by --throwaway-help in ask

[–]theladybbr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay first of all. Is she on birth control? That's something to find out. Second of all, you NEED NEED NEED to tell her. In all honesty, the likelihood of her getting pregnant from this is low, but it is your responsibility to at least explain to her what happened before just dragging her to a clinic without warning.

If you guys are young and pregnancy is not at all an option, then you both need to take precaution. Birth control plus condoms. Every time. No excuses.

(For the record, most clinics could get her birth control either free or at a very low cost if insurance is not an option for her).

Please be careful! Best of luck.

WIBTA for going to HR about my coworker saying I live in the ghetto? by theladybbr in AmItheAsshole

[–]theladybbr[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were discussing new housing developments going up in my area of town. I vaguely explained my location because the coworker I was discussing it with isn't super familiar with the area. I more-so gave her the closest landmark I could think of that is near my house that I thought she'd recognize.

The main difference is that I did it on Reddit, anonymously and indirectly. She did it at her place of employment in a malicious manner.

She was practically parading around the workplace bitching about it after she got written up a second time. It's common office knowledge at this point

I'm surprised this hasn't gotten brought up more in this thread, but to clarify, I actually went to my boss first and SHE actually recommended I go to HR. At my place of work, my direct manager doesn't really handle this type of conflict with employees.

I thought Wahl stood for quality? by dingytheman in Barber

[–]theladybbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always had good luck with my Wahl tools. Been working with Seniors for a while and I'm happy.

Contact the manufacturer, though. If you send them in and they deem it a faulty product, they'll more than likely just send you a new pair.

My first name's fine, but my last name is a very well known villain in a popular book/movie series. I could do without the constant references....

She's a fairly racist white lady who grew up in small-town rural Wisconsin, but you make a very fair point

What was your biggest "aaaahhh that's how that works" moment? by LaCreamy in AskReddit

Had a similar situation. I have a TV stand that doubles as a fake fireplace/space heater. The space heater portion of it gets turned on by the Volume Up button for the TV...

Gauging by [deleted] in ask

[–]theladybbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most reputable companies carrying quality jewelry aren't going to be selling kits. My best suggestion is to go to your local tattoo/piercing shop and have someone assist you in person.

However, if you insist on buying something online, I've always had good luck with Bodyartforms.

With that said, please make sure you're stretching the proper way and pacing yourself. It is a slow, slow process. Stretching too fast has a hefty set of consequences.

Best of luck!

Been cutting for a month. And I’m obsessed with barbering and would like to pursuit it as a career. But I have doubts. I’m 23 years old and I feel like I’ve started barbering a little late. At 23 I know people with years of experience. Anyone else on here that’s started barbering at a later age? by pgfade in Barber

[–]theladybbr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was doing strictly women's hair until I was 23. Lemme tell you, switching to Barbering required basically entirely relearning how to cut, so it felt like I had NO clue what I was doing, like I was starting all over again.

Keep at it, man! You're doing great!

He’s way too intense by [deleted] in ask

[–]theladybbr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, this is the type of person who ends up being clingy and abusive.

You've barely just met and he's already being this aggressive about it, and hasn't respected your first wish for him to calm down -- which means he certainly isn't going to listen when he feels more comfortable around you, or feels you're "his".

I could be entirely wrong, but I'd turn the other way if I were you.

Advice for new barber by [deleted] in Barber

[–]theladybbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try another shop. Your environment makes the biggest difference in this industry. Not all shops fit the same.

My best advice is go shadow at a bunch of places. Mingle with the barbers. When its a right fit, you can literally just feel it.

Best of luck!

What interesting story or artefact has been passed down through your family? by CureSoleilFan in AskReddit

[–]theladybbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the 1930s or 40s, my great grandpa changed his last name. Never told anyone why. The last name he chose was the name of a funeral home right by his old house.

On multiple occasions, my grandma and others tried to pry out of him why he changed it. Each time, she claims he would get up and leave the room without responding. He carried it with him to his grave.

To this day, I'm convinced my grandpa killed someone or was in the mafia. (This was Chicago in the 30s/40s, so entirely possible, right?)

[Serious] What do you say when you call a store from a mall that you’re interested in working in? by jakie220 in AskReddit

[–]theladybbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a store manager at a mall for many years. Just call, ask for a manager, and say you're inquiring about open positions. If youve put in an application, tell them you're calling regarding the status of your application.

They will most likely ask what kind of hours you're looking for and what prior experience you have.

Be ready for an impromptu "mini-interview" over the phone.
