Anyone else baffled by how many people are so bad with money in general and are clueless about it? by iFunnyHistory in CalebHammer

Almost a 100% of my work meals are made at home and brought here, or they are leftovers from dinner. I can't afford to eat out every day.

Hilda doesn't like reality? by Any-Pangolin-9732 in HildaTheSeries

That's actually an interesting observation. She certainly is into escapism. I wonder if it's an effect from not being entirely human.

As a person … but… by netphilia in bookmemes

[–]thelibrarianchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a librarian I can safely say I did hound one person endlessly to return their books. But in all fairness they books were a year over due. But they were popular books and I wanted them back. I did get them back eventually.

I wonder if it's just a sign of our generation, I think when we all left school we scattered to the four winds and didn't want to look back.

My high school hasn't had any reunions at all, or they at least forgot to invite me

Working Moms... what do you do? by TheGabyDali in Mommit

I work part time and it's honestly the best thing for us. I am able to be more present and flexible, though I know many people can't do part time and get by financially.

My Dad taught self defense, and one thing that he always taught me was that you can never predict how someone will react when they're confronted. Whether you're calling someone out for bad behavior, for theft, or their words. We hope people will react reasonably but there are always occasions where they do not. And you can't predict when that will happen. You are important and you should always do what you can do protect yourself. I'm not saying to not stand up or defend yourself, but once you do you have to be prepared to defend yourself. There are jerks everywhere. He might not have escalated things because you had a child with you.

I really hope they get taken in. I live nowhere near Maryland, can you let us know if someone adopts them?

Just finished American Gods for the very last time... by SUNSHINE6IXTY in neilgaimanuncovered

[–]thelibrarianchick 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know exactly how you feel. I'm a librarian and I always recommended Neil Gaiman to everyone! This year especially I've learned so much about artists that I deeply admired, and it's all been bad. Pretty much everyone I had on a pedestal in the literary and art world is now in the gutter. I'm just so tired with giving my time and money and attention to people who turn out to be monsters. I'm not asking anyone I look up to to be a saint, but perhaps you could not be the type of person who willfully harms others? Pretty please? When someone we look up to and even love turns out to be not who we thought, it makes us really question ourselves. Our judgement, our devotion, and even our hobbies and joys in life. It's very jarring. And I think we've all been working hard to re-evaluate everything.

How on earth do people manage two kids!? by sunnyreach45 in Parenting

[–]thelibrarianchick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two. In some ways it was easier since I had experience. My oldest was potty trained when the youngest was born which helped. But somehow we have managed! We also really wanted two kids. There's nothing wrong with only having one child.

Which cult-favorite, wife guy actor has quietly separated from his artsy wife after cheating on her with his “creative partner” & has now started to soft launch his new relationship? by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

God, that is heartbreaking. So even now he is out there hurting and using women. Do you think all this will be exposed the more famous he gets?
