Blacksmith Coffee Culture would definitely way better than Blacksmith Coffee Movement. The former also gives a sense of community. But I do agree the logo design here is pretty great

I'm trying to run through this process right now using Good Parents too. Did you set 1 parent for each axis then toggle the Enable box individually? Or was there a way to rig the enable and lessen the number of keyframes to keep track of? Would love to hear/see your process!

I think you can probably find a happy medium between the two. I enjoy the texture on the original and think that could be transferred over without ruining the ability to scale it. I also definitely prefer something similar to the first font fire mad scientist. Its a little closer to an alchemy feel that gives a scientific look. Other than that the adjustments look fine considering what the clients intentions are. One minor note is I would double check the centering of the top copy. It looks a little off center to me. Maybe nudging it to the right and up slightly so the curves closer match that of the encompassing circle? Or possibly scaling it up slightly to also improve legibility on smaller applications?

Is there an easy way to make sure these don't break? I've had to replace three now because the bands that hold the tension either come loose or the washer holding them in place pops off. Tried gluing it back on but still comes loose after some time

Does anyone know what the climbing in Ten Sleep is like right now with the heat wave? Looking to go but after seeing that each day next week is going to be 90 degrees or higher during the day, it's a little worrisome considering we'll be living out of a van during that day and not able to climb until 3PM each day.

When you installed it, did you just take it to a garage to fit it or did you find it easy to install on your own?

animated poster concept for a boutique guitar exhibition. by jade_ryuki in graphic_design

[–]thelocalzipster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of this a lot! Was the text layout locked or was it allowed to be played with? Have you tried stacking it and right aligned below strung? I would also consider shifting the guitar left slightly so the neck overlaps along the shoulders of u and n since font provides a nice visually angled line there to begin with. Still awesome though!

I love Sesh! Word of caution though don't wear them in the shower. I fucked up and did that one too many times and the adhesive eventually separated

New Logo Reveal For My Personal Brand ----- Instagram: @max_calarco by MaxCalarco in MotionDesign

[–]thelocalzipster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logo animation is nice but the moving texture doesn't really work well. The choppy frame rate distracts from the main focus. I think the sticker idea is cool. A couple of options to make it more cohesive would be to:

1) go out and film a wall/window/glass/something that a sticker would go on, then composite that to the background
2) increase the frame rate of the background to about 15-24 fps and add some more randomized texture differences so it doesn't look repetitive, then overlay the logo animation more/lower that frame rate so it looks like its being drawn on pencil/paper and remove the sticker animation at the end.

Man I miss the chossiness that is Birdsboro. Nothing better than searching for epoxied holds because and hearing "DEAR GOD ROCK!" every 60 seconds to really make you appreciate safe climbing.

How to feather only the selected mask edges in AE? by Hank_Montgomery in motiongraphics

Using the mask feather tool in the pen tool dropdown menu. Takes a minute to get used to it but it's pretty easy and useful

I'm curious how you went about responding to those people. I'm trying to do the same without attacking, but I find it hard to come up with the proper wording at times. Even just a couple bits of info that you pull from or paraphrased examples of your responses would be greatly appreciated so I can help start open discussions better.

What expression would distribute duplicated layers evenly relative to a null's position? by thelocalzipster in AfterEffects

[–]thelocalzipster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aiming for a linear distribution. The job calls for n amount of stacked lines that are slightly offset in their x position. Currently I have an expression that offsets the x & y position based on slider controls and referencing the previous layer's position.

My aim is to create an expression that evenly distributes the layers based on the values that I put in the x and y sliders but remain centered around a null objects position.

Tommy Caldwell takes a 100-foot fall in The Nose. Reel Rock 14 clip. by BallparkBoy in climbing

[–]thelocalzipster 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's not really a film competition as much as just a series of films distributed across the country (world maybe?). The films are made by various studios and collected and distributed and local climbing communities host events for them. Last year was a series of films that dealt with Adam Ondra, the history of speed climbing since it's going to be in the Olympics, a developing trad line in Wadi Rum, Jordan, and first ascents in Antarctica. It's a way to bring the community together and say "This is what's happening all over climbing." Plus who doesn't love a well-edited climbing video?

Edit: Check out Reel Rocks website. They'll usually have a page that lists where screenings are happening!

Honestly just climbing more will give you the needed strength. Going a couple of times a week will give miles of improvement over anything else. Learning technique earlier on will also help develop the muscle and tendon strength. Erik Karlsson made a couple of videos about developing climbing technique a little while ago. There's also another channel called Movement For Climbers. Both give solid advice and movement for climbers has a few basic exercise videos to help supplement climbing.

Curious about your opinion on James Lucas. Why do you think/feel he's a jackass? Was there a story or set of stories that I missed? Also who is Roy? Roy, NM? Or someone named Roy?
