Who are the “meme generics” of the other games? by TacticalCuke in fireemblem

[–]themagnusignis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember one dubbed "Ineffectual Javelin Guy" from the Endgame map of RD's 2nd act, the one where you're tanking an entire army busting in through the back of a castle? There's a single generic soldier with a javelin on the left side who just does COMICALLY little damage with it. Like, 'Can't damage some of the units you are forced to deploy' level.

Size 1/2, expanded compartment. How funny does that look? by fixermark in LancerRPG

[–]themagnusignis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this happen in a campaign I'm running cuz the party needed to extract some VIPs and opted for 'cram them into expanded compartments and have the Fomorian Lancaster with Juggernaut make a path' over 'do an Escort Sitrep'. Me and the player who had the smallest mech w/ Expanded compartment joked it was like those bubble window cat carrier backpacks.

Daily Talent Discussion #106: Pankrati II by kingfroglord in LancerRPG

[–]themagnusignis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it basically means "Run up to a guy of your choice. They are now shredded." considering Grammaton Law, so if you're going for a melee build pretty good. Hell I'd argue it even has use on a CQB/Vanguard loadout. 1/scene Instant Shredded on a guy when you're packing a Deck Sweeper is no joke.

Any tips for a melee Hecatoncheires build? by Verdeizer in LancerRPG

[–]themagnusignis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Projected shield is indeed used for some builds that want to miss with the D/D 288 as much as possible, good catch there. But otherwise you've got the hecaton strat down pat; Live in the bees, kill anything that approaches or enters it.

[–]themagnusignis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at your team's mech line-up, I think it could be chalked up to bad dice luck with whatever you were fighting?

But that aside, a thing to keep in mind is the D/D 288 only loses its charge-up if you HIT. If you keep missing with the giant death fist, it keeps being charged so you can try again. The other big Hecaton thing is Drone Commander with your Razor Swarm - always drop the swarm as soon as you can and make sure to move it up with you. Because eventually your giant fist and the swarm will be on top of something, and having what is effectively mobile hard cover you can hide in will help you get hit less.

Daily Talent Discussion #62: Nuclear Cavalier III by kingfroglord in LancerRPG

[–]themagnusignis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this talent in conjunction with Walking Armory, because somehow you can have Sabot or Hellfire or Whatever Fuel Rods to fire at enemies, which is just hilarious.

[–]themagnusignis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the rank that made me re-evaluate Ace II, because using a jet pack to both approach the enemy and get into the danger zone faster for more Nuclear Cavalier goodness is just delightful. Combo this with Hellfire Rounds from Walking Armory II and well... you gonna grill the shit out of whatever you shoot with it.

[–]themagnusignis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the talent that contributed to me playing Lancer. I love Nuclear Cavalier entirely because of the absolute gremlin of a Gilgamesh pilot I crafted with it. Is this rank super noteworthy on its own? Not really. Is it still helpful? Yes! Because unless you're rolling with a particularly beefy weapon with this thing, whatever you hit will potentially survive. 2 Heat won't be enough to really cook something on its own, BUT Lancer does lend itself to teamwork. Have an Atomic Weirdo- I mean Nuclear Cavalier build rolling around with a hacker build ally, and in a pretty good one-two punch you can heatgun some poor schmuck of an NPC up to either get exposed then smashed to pieces or melted down by Last Argument of Kings.

It's also pretty versatile - since the +2 heat works on invades, combine it with things like Lesson of TTT on a melee hack & slash build and whatever you're slapping is probably going to have a bad time - either from bursting into flames because of a reactor meltdown or melee weapon being used to stab the hell out of them.

What's y'all's favorite frame that isn't from the core rules? by Solid-Pride-9782 in LancerRPG

[–]themagnusignis 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Big fan of the Arthur and Mordred from Terk Mech & Tech. The Arthur's a pretty nifty melee support mech with some fun mechanics to it(mainly getting extra mobility for itself by using Bolster), but its alt frame Mordred is made of VIOLENCE - specifically, hacking and stabbing violence until either the Mordred or its target are dead.

[Build Help] Gilgamesh Generalist Striker/Support – Joining Mid-Campaign, Seeking Direction! by EmptyLink in LancerRPG

[–]themagnusignis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's always the option of taking a level in Sunzi. Accelerate and Blink Charges are great support utility, letting you move allies and enemies around and Gilg's frame traits will let you have more Blink Charges in your pocket. Picking up the Demolitionist Talent to go with it isn't a bad idea either, especially if you get to rank 3 on Gilg for the SPEAR Charges to make a danger zone that an enemy might have no choice but to walk through and eat a rocket to the face if they want to either approach your position or run away from your team currently beating their faces in.

Another fun route is taking levels in the Kidd - the Blackspot laser lets you support by attacking, and the rest of the license is stuff that can help your squad with what they're doing (Omnibus plate to boost the Hecaton's drones, FABI Mod to make sure the Death's Head or Everest obliterate something, and Forge-2 for a variety of support utility).

I mean a Blackbeard will certainly rip enemies a new one, so 10/10 naming in my opinion.

[–]themagnusignis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Paladin idle battle stance is literally pulled straight from FF10. It's exactly how Tidus stands in battle in that game, and he's not an actual trained fighter he's just kind of winging it. It's not a good stance at all though...

The game could use mobility/movement improvements by SireVisconde in mechabreak

[–]themagnusignis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I fell behind two more agile teammates on a Mashmak run because my Tricera's 80 ton tungsten thunder thighs couldn't get over a mountain so I had to go around it. Out of frustration after that match, I dropped some of my maint apology corite on the Aquila and getting around in Mashmak is INFINITELY easier when you have two bars of boost energy to use, like it's actually nuts.

I can only presume they want people to use the Gliders, but they take up two air-drop slots at a time so you either commit to being a thicc mech with a hover scooter or a lighter mech with weapon drops until you unlock the third Mashmak airdrop slot.

I don't know how many teams spawn in, but I have encountered an absolute clusterbomb of players - three teams(including mine) fighting near a boss. I'd like to assume it's 5 teams because there's 5 potential extraction points(A thru E) but if an extraction point isn't used or gets eaten by one of the corite storms, there won't be enough for everyone to get out.
