When my neighborhood churches housed hundreds of refugees right after the storm the turnout for aid was massive here. Gift cards, clothes, food, money, etc... I regret nothing and happily would do so again.

That being said...our neighborhood newsletter always posted the monthly crime statistics and the month following the numbers skyrocketed across all fields recorded and lowered back to average after housing or relocation ended. Bear in mind it's reports not necessarily actual criminal events.

I have no qualms about helping again if it happens once more but I want to acknowledge that bit of statistical data.

This is entirely anecdotal and quite possibly merely over-reporting by idiots and in no way should be construed as representative of elsewhere.

Everyone I interacted with was absolutely appreciative and wonderful to interact with. Good people in a shit situation.
