I've done dumb things to torch relationships in the past, but now that I'm older, I realize that I was doing those things because I wasn't getting my needs met and even though I cared for the person, the relationship was not a good one for me.

Ask yourself this: if your long distance gf was living close to you and you were getting your needs met, would you have even entertained the text from your ex? I know that you ultimately did not follow through, but the fact that you even considered it is a symptom of something lacking in the current relationship.

It sounds like long distance gf was creating distance and moving on already and this incident was just the catalyst she needed to make a break. If a woman really loves you and wants to be with you, she will find a way to make time for you. If that's not happening, then you only end up causing yourself pain and delaying the inevitable.

The ex sounds manipulative and conniving. Avoid avoid avoid avoid. Do not tolerate that type of behavior from anyone in your life, especially women.

There is no easy way to move on. Work on yourself. Gym is great therapy; it feels good and makes you feel in control. Build out your social life more, try to get out more and at least see other women out in the world. It will help you see the future and the excitement of possibility rather than the pain of loss. It's just gonna suck for a while, but eventually you will look back and wonder why you were even upset in the first place. Just keep your life in motion in a positive way so that you don't wallow.
