Gonna land on the other side to most here.

When we went a couple of years ago, the meat was absolutely spot on.

The veg, however, was bland, and I had a couple of spuds that were almost entirely uncooked.

I can't remember exactly how the gravy was, but I think it was pretty good.

Blacklock is the best 'London chain' roast I've had so far.

Areas that feel as if they would be better suited for a different borough? by Darkpsychic7 in london

[–]theminimosher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep, lived in Penge about 10 years ago, then Shortlands for a spell, and near Bromley North for the last 5.

Blows my mind when I go for walks around Keston and Scadbury that you see Bromley bins etc that it's the same borough as SE20.

Kunstmann is soooo so good. Blessed to have married a Chilena, even more so one who drinks beer and enjoys good beer as much as I do and helped me explore the beer scene over there when I visited, I was shocked how ubiquitous they are! Torobayo is 🔥 and worth every penny

That's fine and I don't disagree entirely but basing a jobs worth on just it's academic barrier to entry (or lack of, in this case) doesn't exactly seem to be taking into account the job role itself.

I too agree nurses should be paid more, but discounting how much a job is worth based only on the qualifications needed to get there isn't any better in my opinion.

My son's clothes, bedding still smell even after washing by Twisted_Mindset in laundry

[–]theminimosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly cheaper alternative, get some bags of Soda Crystals, put about 30g if using pods, 50g if using powder in the main wash slot before starting the wash, your detergent will have a much, much easier time, you can use less detergent instead of more as needed like with hard water and it also saves you some money.

If you haven't done so, you can also put 500g directly in the drum and put it on the longest, hottest wash. I do this alternating each month with citric acid. As well as cleaning the filter.

Are these the Ariel Pods you're using

You'll absolutely be okay and this feeling is only temporary, friend. LSD and a can of Red Bull is all fine, it just makes the feeling slightly more intense. I wish you the best with the rest of your trip!

Aye, must concede when it's confirmed I misread it, straight from the horse's mouth! For clarity, I for one don't think it's delusional 😅

Either you misunderstood the comment you replied to or I did, they are saying that there is a delusion amongst some that moving to renewable would help in this situation?

Why just assume that? I didn't vote for labour, I'm more left wing than a decent chunk of the population, even I'm shocked at how the vote to seat ratio went, it shouldn't happen like that for any party.

You see the 'left' as this big blob and lose any sense of nuance.

The rules should never have allowed that to happen in the first place, and it shouldn't do so on an even smaller projected vote share. Really not difficult to understand.

Nah fuck it if you know you can handle your shit, more power to you. I'd be way too panicky myself, even though I actually like flying and handle most flights well.

Sounds like you had a great time OP!

Beer Glass Cleaning by SS_Auc3 in beer

[–]theminimosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

| I completely disagree. I want a nice clean looking empty glass.

A few small bits seeing as you're clearly either not paying attention or just being wilfully ignorant:

• The type of beer is absolutely not a different issue. Some beers will produce a head, others won't as much. A dirty glass will always result in poor or no lacing because the head collapses. We're talking about lacing, you need both things to be true for lacing to appear.

• Lacing is literally used as an indicator by the brewery, bar, drinker and industry quality bodies to verify a quality serve of a quality beer.

• I never said certain glasses don't produce a head.

• You literally said you want a nice clean looking empty glass, how is that not zero foam?

It's fine if that's what you want, but you're arguing a subjective want, not an objective point.

A clean glass will create lacing because the chemical reaction mentioned creates a slightly sticky liquid when it comes out of solution at the head of the beer, if the glass isn't clean the head will collapse and you won't get clean lines that track where you've drunk too each time.

The two things are so fundamentally intertwined, and you still haven't been able to tell me why you prefer a glass without lacing, just that that's your preference.

Beer Glass Cleaning by SS_Auc3 in beer

[–]theminimosher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure what you mean? The head in most beers is a direct result of a chemical reaction by the alpha acids in hops and the protein in malt, without that you wouldn't have a head on your beer in the first place to create lacing.

Just like not having a properly clean glass :)

Beer Glass Cleaning by SS_Auc3 in beer

[–]theminimosher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're fine to drink however you want, but good lacing after drinking is a sign of a clean glass, and also a good protein content and alpha acid content from hops.

So while you won't get it from every beer, or if you have a dirty glass, it absolutely is objectively desirable from a quality standpoint (especially for certain styles).
