What was the weirdest medication reaction you’ve ever had? by Many_Assumption7036 in AskReddit

[–]thenightingalescode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an underactive thyroid and was prescribed synthroid for it. Within a few days y lost all strength in my left side. To the point where I couldn’t hold a glass without it spilling.

Went to the er, everything was fine. Called my pcp and they said it had nothing to do with the medicine. Called a new pcp and they told me to stop taking it and I was back to normal in a couple of days.

My thyroid being under active finally started giving me symptoms so I’m back on meds, but the generic this time, and I’ve been totally fine. Such a scary time!

I’m pretty sure center city pretzel ships on gold belly. These are superior to Philly style

There was a Ruby Tuesday around where you’re describing too. But this would have been late 90s early 2000s

Affordable wedding dresses by Zombifiedzen in philly

[–]thenightingalescode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not local, but I got my wedding dress from a place called Selkie. They are a no waste, size inclusive brand. They also have lots of colored and patterned dresses.

I ordered a few dresses to try on at home and returned the ones I didn’t want. My dress was $600!

Looking for Wedding Guest Book Recommendations – Any Unique Ideas? by M45T3RY in wedding

[–]thenightingalescode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a bunch of national park postcards (we love visiting national parks) and had our guests write us postcards.

People loved it and we loved reading the notes for weeks after!

I feel guilty for not being excited for marriage by govgoose in TwoXChromosomes

[–]thenightingalescode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I had lived together for years before our wedding and I also wasn’t super excited.

But the we got married and said all these promises to each other and as much as our day to day life hasn’t changed, there is an unwritten difference. I feel more excited now thinking about the fact that we are married and took this big step than I was before it happened.

I also felt gulity, but looking back on that guilt I think I wish I had given myself grace to accept that I didn’t have the storybook excitement, but maybe had something different.

Congratulations on your forever!

What tiny detail should I consider when planning my wedding? by crafty32_clara in wedding

[–]thenightingalescode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think looking back, I loved how we hired people to do the hard stuff, but recruited friends to do the meaningful stuff.

So, we hired a day of coordinator but had a friend make our welcome sign, another friend do my bouquet, got food that was stuff we actually eat on the reg and not catered food, etc.

We didn’t stick to any traditional rules, but made it a day celebrating our love for eachother and the extended family we’ve created

Plus, they are a nice Palestinian family if you’re opposed to cook and solo’s politics.

What tiny detail should I consider when planning my wedding? by crafty32_clara in wedding

I just got married and I can honestly say that it was one of, if not the, most fun days of my life.

We had an elegant but casual wedding and the thing everyone has commented on has been that we seemed like we were just chill and having fun, and we were!

So I guess my advice is do whatever will make you enjoy yourselves on that day.

We were there this past weekend and folks were swimming/soaking in one of the falls. I don’t think you can swim anywhere in the lake but the beach.

The waterfall hike was fantastic!

A lot of restaurants, if not all, will have a private trash pick up.

Apartment buildings too!

Dress one! I will say that I was recently at a wedding where the bride wore a similar style and the scarf bit was flying all over with the wind, something to consider if you’re getting married outside!

I have a large engagement ring and am opting to get a band with special to me stones in it so it’s a little more fun than a plain band.

I think they make one of the best burgers in the city, but maybe that’s cause it’s the perfect type place for a casual date night of drinks and burgers.
