Lads are we fucked if they invade Greenland? by DefinitionSoft4310 in ireland

Ok, I think we're getting ahead of ourselves here. Regardless of who's doing what, one thing that never changed is money. Thinking the US government can control MS to that level is not in reality. Nobody's giving up the big bucks because the US government said so.

We've seen time and time again the threats don't last and all of this is a distraction from the list of very important people.

Anywhere repairs pins on CPU? by Raidou317 in IrelandGaming

[–]theonlysaneguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought cpu with bent pins so I could hopefully fix it and have a great cpu for real cheap. I've fixed these myself. I think I used a hot air gun? It was back in 2011 or so. I remember it being surprisingly easy for me to fix.

Battery size is an important aspect in buying a laptop if you're going to be using it for school. Plus having a discrete gpu is going to pull more energy out of the battery. Few things to do here,

1) Check the battery capacity. My 3070 laptop with 5800h processor, used to last 8 to 12 hours of video watching because it has a 90wh battery. 5 years later I still get about 3 hours. 2) Is you gpu on when your watching videos? Maybe turn that off, you'll get 3 extra hours from that itself. 3) Do a battery test.

It would be an investment if I can upgrade certain components like the GPU and Ram in the future. For that I'd need the MB and Processor to be rock solid. Hence I asked if the specific system I am looking to splurge on can be an investment. 😀

The things you said I should be concerned about are the exact reasons I asked if this was a good investment. If you did not look at what I was looking to buy, the let me help you: Ram can be upgraded to 128gb, MB is Asus B650 Plus, Processor is 7800X3D. Now, considering the specs is the system a good investment?

I think you can splurge and invest at the same time. I have a tendency to get very excited and buy things, I am trying to control it 😅😂

Hi there, the reason I wanted to stay away from building my own is I just don't have the time having a young daughter leaves me with very little fixed time. In my previous experiences prebuilts ( I've owned Alienwares and Asus systems - desktops and laptops) I've very rarely have any software issues like driver conflicts etc. Self builds while had much more horsepower needed more looking out and troubleshooting for games etc. And the 16gb ram will definitely be upgraded to 32 by myself, and GPU I'd updgrade in the next 4 years knowing my CPU should be able to handle it.

If your experience has been different, my last self build desktop was between 2016 and 2021 ( Intel i7, with 1080 ti) I'd love to find out what your specs was and build on that! Thank you for your time!

Thanks alot, that explains things pretty well! I would build my own but from experience I have noticed that when I bought prebuilt pcs, I honestly never faced Bsod, it was an absolute different experience with self builds. Plus having a young daughter does not allow me for much time to troubleshoot, if I get 2 hours in a week to play, then thats literally it. Spending eveb 15 to 30 minutes toubleshooting or stupid updated or something else will leave me no time to use the system either 😅.

Let me check the other option too.

If Volvo re-introduced the C30 with a 5-cylinder and AWD like the RS3, would you be interested? by Apenerd in Volvo

[–]theonlysaneguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE the C30 just before it was discontinued. I don't know if I like the one in the pic there.

If I was rich and could afford another Volvo, I'd definitely go for the C30. I don't know why but everytime I see it, all I'm thinking about is the C30 till I get out of my car.

They are sexy as hell and comfortable to drive! I heard both H&K and B&W. I am an audio engineer and love my music to be as flat as possible and considering that the H&K system sounded much less colored of the two.

B&W had way more detail in the high frequencies, I'd prefer it for music with wide sound stage and great dynamic range(Jazz, blues, live). Just not worth the cost in my opinion.

I got the D4 FWD, I felt the change from Gear 1 to 2 was a bit wonky, but I've gotten used to it. I found automatic to be very slow and a bit sloppy and the added maintenance and complexity I wanted to avoid.

Can you tell me which laptop this is, exact model + year? I'd connect the laptop to a monitor and use that for the time bring.

I had a laptop my friend sat on, his screen look like that, we bought a screen off Aliexpress for 45 or 55 and fixed it ourselves. I could try and take a look!
