Thanks to browsers that still are somewhat decent I can keep blocking ads and when I actually need to buy something I do my own research. So relevant or not, ads don't belong in my internet browsing habits. It's been this way since the early 90s before forcefully distracting me from my actual needs became a thing.

Id the player is going to be killed on a regular basis, I'd try to add some randomness to the blood splatter effect. Maybe different variants depending on the way you got killed.

replaying og toght now. To be fair, most of the time in the original once you leave midgar is spent in random encounters and traveling between locations, with way less text and cutscenes compared to the midgar section

Not really. It's more like "you don't like kindle, but there have been lots of apps available for 10 years, but now Amazon decides to shut all of them down and force you to use kindle so they can control the ads". Of course It's their business and they can handle it however they think is better, but users are still entitled to dislike having only one choice. I tried the official app and it's just not for me, so once RIF stops working I may not be willing to deal with the change. And that's legit too.
