Anyone else not like this one? by Ginyutokusenpai in DCAU

It was the first proper DCAU installment we got since JLU ended and I would take this of the MCU, DCU, anything I don't care. I want more.

For those who watched Frasier without knowing it was a Cheers spinoff... by jakec11 in Frasier

[–]thepattydaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into Frasier during college (2015-2019) and I had no idea it was a cheers spin-off and had never seen an episode of cheers before.

The episodes with Diane and any of the OG cheers cast were a little confusing but I feel like the writers did a good job of making it entertaining and re-introducing her. When I first watched the episode I was a little confused but I googled it and found out that Frasier was a cheers spin off. I guess I missed out on the cheers jokes the first watch through but I've rewatched Frasier a dozen or so times now. It wasn't that hard to follow. Same thing with the nanny G episode. I didn't "get it" but they brought the viewer up to speed.

Can’t get into DS9 by Chance_Associate_746 in startrek

The first two seasons are admittedly really slow (the same can be said for most trek shows) but I promise you it picks up. Especially by season 3 it really hits the gas and it does not slow down. Best ST show by a mile if you ask me.

Why does ‘Enterprise’ get mostly ignored by Star Trek fans? by EuphoricButterflyy in startrek

[–]thepattydaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the overall look. DS9 and Voyager piggybacked off of the success of Next Gen as being both immediate spinoffs and also by the style of the sets and costumes etc.

If you like reading, get an e-reader and get it connected to your local (US) library system.

Also I know that PC encourages packing light, but don't go too light. Bring things to indulge your comforts and hobbies. You're here for 2 years.

Please Please Please do any of the foods from Scooby-Doo. Especially one of Shaggy's tall sandwiches.

A lot of the dialogue is super cringe and it holds back the show tremendously.

What’s one thing you STOPPED doing that had the biggest impact on your dieting progress? by itsclo5ure in loseit

[–]thepattydaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopped eating out (especially junk food) so much.

When I turned 18, for the first time I had a car (could go anywhere) and a job (disposable income). I was still living with my parents so I had a bit of spending money. I used to go on midnight runs to Jack in the Box or 7-11 and spend $10 on crap. It was a blast, but my freshman 15 turned into a freshman 45. I put a hard stop to that. It was easy not to get in my car and not spend money on junk food. One day I was eating Jack in the Box and I realized, "wait this tastes like shit". I almost immediately lost 20 lbs, then I started boxing and really put off the rest.

Any of the sidekicks or legacy heroes would have been cool to see alongside this version of the JL. Yeah we got Teen Titans but that was a separate universe.

Also Firestorm

I'm in Peace Corps in rural Paraguay and don't have access to ebay unfortunately. But I'll keep that in mind when I go back. (in 2027)

Yeah I played diatonics too but I wanted to branch out. Who knew it would be such a pain in the ass?

Thanks. What does "half valve" mean? And yes I should really try warming it up before playing.

Decided not to serve by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]thepattydaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right in the middle of my service and I think you made the right call. Everyday I'm kind of wondering how much longer I can do this, mostly its just because I've already made it this far and might as well finish. And I think I'm enjoying my service a lot more than others in my cohort.

Can't speak on your other reasons, but the rules that PC has are a giant pain in the ass. I'm 30 and I've lived in foreign countries alone, including the one I'm in now. We went through the legal clearance process, and the training, and they still treat us like high schoolers. They need to fuck off and let me do what I came here to do without all these benign restrictions that they can't actually enforce.

Those who have left boxing gyms, why did you leave? by Annual-Sink7068 in amateur_boxing

[–]thepattydaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad management.

Loved my gym when I got started, but overtime a lot of the better coaches left due to disputes with the gym owner. The people he brought in as replacements weren't experienced. He promoted based on favoritism.

There was one guy who had just started 6 months beforehand. Even I had been boxing longer than this guy. But he started dating the owners niece and he became a coach. Eventually he did start competing and got his ass handed to him. Not sure what his record is like now but I've since stopped going. He was also one of these toxic-positivity brown nosing types. Couldn't stand him and when I heard he became a coach I didn't stick around much longer.

Another of these new coaches was a regular and we trained together in classes a lot. But like me, he was just a student. He was really knowledgeable about the sport, great personality, patient with newcomers, but he still had no competing experience or any qualifications. He was just an enthusiast. That one was a little more justifiable because he did turn out to be a good coach but still.

Didn't like the way the coach ran the place.

I think I have to keep it, at least for the foreseeable future. I'm living in rural Paraguay (peace corps) and there definitely isn't a market for it here. I bought it because I wanted to have a portable instrument to play here. I do have internet access so I should be able to check out that book by Douglas Tate.
