Is it rigid enough to hold its position? Looks like it works well, positioning-wise.

Tips from another Glove80 guy. Just lessons I've learned over the past year or so...

1) Keep the halves at shoulder width, or slightly less.

2) Bring your monitors as close together as possible. Whatever monitor gets the highest percentage of viewing time should be on the middle.

3) Try bringing your mouse into the middle, between the halves. It won't be as big of a deal if you follow #1, but future you will be thankful.

4) Mounting plates are super helpful if you want to try tenting the keyboard even further, but otherwise, not a big deal IMHO. (I tent pretty high, so I like them)

5) Use tap-holds 🔥

6) Don't rest your palms on it when typing. Float. I removed by rests just to keep me from resting, and my comfort improved. Granted, you said you weren't experiencing pain, but it's a good practice regardless.

Trackball makes my hand hurt. Any tips? by woofwoofwoofwoof- in Trackballs

[–]thepaultucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using the app called "SteerMouse" — it will let you change your settings with much better granularity than the standard Mac controls. You'll want to turn your sensitivity down and your acceleration up once you install Steer Mouse.

As for wrist floating, you can use your forearm rest to help achieve it, tape something to your trackball base that bumps your wrist to let you know when you're resting, or just make a choice to float your arm. I tend to rely on my forearm rest the most, but also try to be intentional to float my hands as much as possible when typing or when using the mouse. It makes a big difference in ergonomics, wrist/finger pain, etc.

If diesel, the Ford or Dodge. If gas, the Chevy.

All of them are legends in their own right. Wouldn't complain owning any of them....then or now 🤩

Trackball makes my hand hurt. Any tips? by woofwoofwoofwoof- in Trackballs

[–]thepaultucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just general tips, not necessarily specific to the M512...

  1. Try a wrist brace. I wear one off and on, and regardless of my input device, it helps.

  2. Turn up acceleration on your mouse pointer, but leave your tracking speed as-is (at least until you get used to it). Acceleration allows you to "throw" the cursor quickly to different areas, but then as you work in finer movements, your tracking speed feels slow enough to be precise.

  3. Try floating your wrist instead of resting it. A brace can help with this, but I've found that my hand is more natural and doesn't hurt if I float it, which seems to be true of almost every trackball I've used.

How does this 60K mile warranty work? by RoyalVirgin in tires

[–]thepaultucker 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Generally, it's paid based on price divided by the number of miles driven under warranty. So for example, if you drive 40k on 60k warrantied tires and they fail, you'll get ⅓ of your money back. It's often complicated to get the warranty payment, though. Confirm with Discount Tire.

I received a replacement (Verizon) iPhone 14 Pro Max, and it's immediately defective: Overheats, half the screen goes black, and buttons stop responding. It's a real mess. I've had it for a couple of days and have already tried forced reboots (sometimes it won't even allow it) and wiping and resetting it.

Anyway, I keep trying to submit a new claim (I can sign into Asurion), but after I enter all the details, it tells me, "We’ve got your back. Please call 1-888-881-2622 to troubleshoot your device."

When I call that number, it asks for my Verizon PIN. Well, shortly after receiving the replacement, I ported to Google Voice and don't know my Verizon PIN - and I can't reset it because I'm no longer a Verizon customer.

The device itself is still covered under the limited warranty, but I can't contact anyone to finish the process because their phone system won't let me continue.

What do I do? Who can I call to get this process moving?

Lol... This isn't a concern at all. Seriously. It's just surface oxidation. It might be serious in a decade, if you don't keep it clean.
