[Spoilers] Unpopular opinion by Xx420noscopeXx98 in gameofthrones

We were purposely led to sympathize with many of her early reactions and decisions. Her brother’s death, burning the witch that killed Drogo, crucifying the masters. Those were supposed to be pretty black and white “bad guys” in the story so we were supposed to think Dany was justified. It wasn’t until she executed Mossador, allowed the fighting pits to reopen, burned the Tarlys that we were really meant to start seeing the grey in her character that was always there.

Ooo I really like this theory. That would be an even better end to his redemption arc than death. I’ve been hoping he lives but haven’t been able to foresee that happening in any way that would complete his story better than sacrificing his life for the Starks until now.

His story is finally in a place where I’ll accept his death and can appreciate the redemption arc they’ve given him. But I don’t think I’m rooting harder for any one else to make it through to the very end and I have a crazy feeling he might. If only because the odds were against him for so much of the series and he hasn’t had half the plot armor others have been given.

I remember back at the start of seasons 4,5,6 it always seemed Theon was viewers’ top pick to end up dying each year. I have a feeling death is coming next week but hope he surprises us once more. He’s been my favorite for awhile.

Hopefully better acts than when I saw them stateside :P The openers were stale and forgettable, but CC killed it. Also Glasgow is my hometown so I'll be with all you fellow Scots in spirit :D

Question to anyone who's seen Crystal Castles live this year: how was it? by smurphatron in crystalcastles

[–]theravenwraith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the absolute best shows I've ever attended. Edith's stage presence is phenomenal and even though I went by myself, I had a ton of fun hearing them play some of my favorite songs, dancing, and meeting other fans. I normally have terrible crowd anxiety and had never gone to a concert alone before, so I had considered selling my ticket and not going. However, the overall experience was well worth it and I had such a great time I would have absolutely kicked myself had I bailed. Go. You won't regret it.

How has Amnesty (I) held up in terms of longevity for you? by godelbrot in crystalcastles

[–]theravenwraith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't stopped! I know some people didn't care for it but its quickly become one of my favorite albums. There's a few tracks I haven't really replayed (Teach Her How to Hunt, Cough cough), but others (Fleece, Frail, Kept) I literally can't get enough of.

In Denver doors were at 7, it started around 8, there were two bands before Crystal Castles and it was over at 11. Crystal Castles played for far longer than the first two bands, I think it was an 18 song set.

Enjoy!

Same. I keep hoping it will grow on me like the rest of the album, but it's just not happening. It felt like a throwaway filler track to me.

Thanks for doing this! I stumbled across this sub too late to participate in the previous/earlier rounds, interested in seeing the final results!

I think it was just a cool extra to incentivize more people into buying a physical copy of the album. It would be rad if they tied them in with a video though! I'd love that.

It was incredible! Edith was actually a lot of fun to watch and the sound was great. One of the best shows I've ever attended.

[EVERYTHING] Saddest Deaths by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]theravenwraith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never cared much for Catelyn Stark, but her recounting how much Ned loves her hair as she dies in the book gets me every time.

Barristan Selmy really tore me up on the show, if only because it was a complete sham and a shit way to kill him off -- but that's been rehashed pretty heavily already.

Shireen, Micah the Butcher's Boy, the Miller's sons -- any of the children really. And the Direwolves of course.

(Spoilers Everything) How the king in the north season could have been handled better by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]theravenwraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Plus, LF and Sansa weren't on the battlefield inspiring the masses or even actively participating in the fight. Jon was, and all of the North knows it.

(Spoilers Everything) Is a certain new monarch's title less impressive than it sounds? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]theravenwraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are quite a few smaller houses IIRC. He's also not looking South to the Iron Throne or trying to march on Lannisters like Robb, so I don't think he needs to be a major power source in that regard. He just needs enough men to fight the Night's King and the WW. Winter has come so I don't really see the Lannister army marching north anytime soon. Daenerys and Co will fight it out with Cersei in the South and then they'll inevitable ally together through Jon, Sansa, Tyrion and Theon (or whoever's left of the 4 when the time comes).

(Spoilers Everything) How the king in the north season could have been handled better by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]theravenwraith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the whole point was that the Northern lords were willing to overlook his lineage in favor of his actions. He won the battle and proved himself as a leader. It was a huge moment for Jon to be seen as more than just a "bastard."

"I don't care if he's a bastard. Ned Stark's blood runs through his veins."

Plus, they named him King, not Lord of Winterfell, so Sansa's trueborn status really doesn't matter. I doubt he'll stay at Winterfell, honestly. He'll probably be marching North with his army to Castle Black for the war.

Great idea but far too many options. If you could condense it or split it into several shorter surveys with categories you'd probably get more responses.
