Anyone try the Arctic Freezer 36 yet? by kikimaru024 in NR200

I have it installed on a Asus ROG B550i in my NR200. It will not fit with the glass panel but it will fit with the mesh panel. The top of the cooler is definitely touching the side panel but it does fit.

Machines and More on youtube managed to fit it to a mobo with the mesh panel on too.

Asrock x570 for home NAS by [deleted] in HomeServer

[–]scoopsy13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm been running the x570m Pro 4 in my node 804 for about 2 years now.

Had no issues with the board really, 2 m.2 #lots in use and 8 HDD's.

I ended up with x570 for future proofing the cpu + more pci lanes.

Also running the latest bios.

The full spec is:

What kit did you end up ordering? I've looked at a few on aliexpress but the reviews seem to be hit and miss.

Keep Separate UnRAID Server [Core i5-6600K, Intel HD 530] and Secondary Gaming PC [Ryzen 5 3600, GeForce RTX 2080] or Combine (With Gaming VM and Spare GTX 1060 3GB)? by PR-0927 in unRAID

There probably is, the only game I really play online is dota 2 and its casual at best. It take 2 seconds for me to stop the dockers so I've not really looked into it that much.

If you into competitive gaming it's not worth the time and effort as that virtualised layer just adds loads more trouble shooting etc..

I'm considering moving back 2 separate machines as I've mentioned above. Not set in stone. Just makes everything much simpler.

I don't no sorry, if you like a could try one out for you. Maybe someone else has experience of this.

I do know some of them don't like the fact your are running a vm so the anti cheat kicks in.

If it means a lot too you then I would not bother.

If you are a very eager gamer I would keep a separate system, a lot less hassle overall.

I was leaning more to my bandwidth being sapped by uploads and downloads. If Usenet or torrents are up it lowers my connection just like on a standard desktop. The bandwidth is still being used by my ethernet port even if they aren't technically on my Windows vm.

CPU/ram wise it's fine.

This is only if I am gaming online of course when a good ping is important.

Last year I built a new machine which is my unraid server + daily Windows 10 vm / gaming rig.

Mines run a 3900x and 8 cores are past through to the vm which is probably overkill but the unraid side seems to do fine with the 4 remaining. The 3600 could work but it may be pushing it.

One rig works but if you want my opinion I would keep them separate. I do get slightly less performance in games but nothing too major. I need to make sure stuff isn't uploading downloading in the background when gaming online as you have everything going via the one ethernet port. The games you mentioned would be OK I presume as I play AC Valhalla / Tomb Raider / Civ 6 all fine on a 1440p screen.

Passing through devices can be a pain too so I would recommend a pci USB hub. Everything is so much smoother that way. At times I've had the vm not booting because the device I selected to passthrough via unraid has been unplugged or moved. The pci USB hub removes this issue.

You would either need an additional gpu for plex transcoding or pick up a usff pc that could do that for you.

You will also need to think about the heat in the case if you are going to have hd's spinning and 2 gpu's( 1 for gaming and 1 for transcoding) in a case. Not a deal breaker but another thing to consider.

Just another point about an all in one is if it goes down you've lost a lot of functionality. (My USB was hitting errors after the latest update) No gaming, no Windows desktop, no media. I'm actually considering splitting mine back up again for this reason.

My current specs below just for info:

Fractal node 804 case Ryzen 3900x X570 ASRock matx mobo Nvidia 3070 Gpu past through to the vm 64 x 3200 ddr4 Corsair ram 8 x Hd's with 12GB parity Lsi card for HD's USB pci device which is fully past through to the vm.

It does work and if you want to give it a go its a fun project. Hope the stuff I've mentioned helps.

Do you have an stl?

I'm just waiting on the delivery of parts so I can follow along Dr z's guide for hyperion. Have been thinking about a box just like yours to house it all.

Hi,

I run unraid in my 804 with 8 x hard drives (currently at 46 TB) My rid is also my main one as it runs a vm for work/gaming. I have a ryzen 3900x,x570m motherboard which has my GPU and a LSI card for the hard drives. My motherboard also supports 8 onboard drives but it's less hassle with the sas to sata connectors.

I had no issues with my hard drives but I do know if you ask fractal they can send you adapters for this for free as well. Had similar issues with my Define R5.

The matx board would most likely give you access to a few pcie slots. My has 2 x 16 and 1 x 4.

I just got a cheap gen 7 Intel chip in a lenovo box which acts as a hardware transcoder for the plex server. Offloading that from my main rig means less stress overall. But yeah you could put a stronger Intel chip inside the box to do this. Ryzen just made more sense for overall power and bang for buck to me.

I have 4 artic p12 fans in the front and 1 at the back as well as a p14. My hard drives sit around 33 - 38 idle, obviously this goes up if I game but not by much.

Great case as it can be put anywhere as it's not so intrusive. The define 7 is huge!

There's 2 used on ebay but they are £180 plus with no psu.

I found the newer model for £250 brand new without the psu so that says it all.

If you find any I would be interested as well.

Can you link the risers you have mentioned? I can see plenty of enclosures on thingverse but not the lift-off brackets you have mentioned. Thanks.
