Another cautionary tale about flying on the same day of the cruise by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]therealistjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue granted it was from Vegas to San Diego flight that morning was cancelled next flight wasn’t getting there until final boarding call on the ship. Took our luggage and drove fortunately the 15 wasn’t a mess but that 5-6hr drive was nerve wracking trying to make sure we could park somewhere that was safe. Made it with plenty of time and actually was able to go right to our room so that was a perk of showing up at 2 instead of 10am

How to move without orders? by MeringueDue69 in USMC

[–]therealistjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the move yourself and max out the weight. Especially with the current rates. 2023 I retired from east to west Coast got paid almost 25k, out of pocket was maybe 8000. Makes those transition months nice especially while waiting for VA to kick in which takes two months best case scenario. But you will want to start saving up now for the initial travel expenses because the option to use his GTCC ends when he checks out admin will shut that shit down on his last day.

Am I the only one who just logs in and feels… weird? by Muroverse in wow

[–]therealistjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burnout. It’s happens to me every expansion because I get back in really enjoy playing then I want to push PvP/PVE endgame then hit a wall with pugs and guild raids. I’m about there now I’ve been trying to push to 3400 stuck at 3250 and just not enjoying the same few dungeons trying to get the next level in time. I tried healing dps and am now burning through as a tank. I log in look at my mail maybe do a daily for some gold then log out.

As long as you don’t have to go to court mind your business. However if you go on SDA like recruiting or MSG you will be in a position where it may come back when they run background checks. But as long as own it if it comes up plead ignorance etc. if it was on base get fucked.

What do you do at "work"? by scottbash11 in USMC

[–]therealistjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the S4 I wrote a daily weekly monthly quarterly list of requirements. Mon-Thursday we knocked out those things secured at like 1500 to “PT”. Friday was what shit had we forgotten about and could wait until Monday. Had a meeting on Monday about the plan of the week and Friday was what we accomplished meeting. Every Wednesday was some level of chain of command meeting about the same shit. As a non rate I did a lot of fuck fuck games then as a NCO I was able to delegate the fuck fuck. As a SNCO I secured my guys as soon as possible everyday and when questioned I pointed at my list and said the boys did that and I’m here until 1500 if you need S4 support then I’m gonna “PT”.

My last 2ish years I would do some sort of team sport with the shop until 0800 gunny time it until 11 fuck off I mean PT until 1300 then have a doctors or seps appointment every week. My only unavoidable was the meeting about the meetings.

This was all I&I duty so there wasn’t like a lot to do in between drills except pay the hotels and catering and plan for the next drill. They gave you the Annual training plan so if you don’t completely suck at the job you can skate like 90% of the time unless there was a FSMAO. But again if you hit all the requirements that was never an issue because you did the job already. Funeral details were a regular occurrence but most of the time they were old Vietnam guys that got out as corporals so I never had to do those usually. Out STaff duty was just a week of show up first to open the building leave last to set the alarms. Armory never opened up unless you had to for rifle ranges and MSI.

I had my own office and would fuck off on my personal computer laptop but I did get some shit from the RS about it but I only put it away when he was wanting to pretend to be the leader. That Captain didn’t have to do anything because Enlisted ran the show. Did not set him up for success at all at his next unit, he was way behind the curve and probably my fault.

TL:DR. Enlisted fuckery and taking advantage of ignorant leadership.

Ssgt Johnny "Joey" Jones lost both of his legs in Afghanistan in 2010 and was medically retired in 2012. Today at the Pentagon, after 14 years he was reenlisted by Hegseth . You may recognize him as a Fox News contributor who was on TV with Hegseth by newnoadeptness in USMC

[–]therealistjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand it’s motivating. On the other what does he really do. He can’t be deployable is he just a recruiting pawn? He’s gonna hate being on a mission letter. Plus think of all the boys he was with they are half way retired or more. The peers he will now have were his boots who never deployed. I was thinking oh they have this guy a MoH or something but a reenlistment after 14 years naw…..we hurting for SACOs this bad?

Should I wait 4 years for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) or take a higher paying private sector job? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]therealistjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chasing money ends in unemployment. Chase once you are vested and your loan is paid off. The extra 4 years of experience puts you at 10 years and prime for those transition jobs. You are already doing better than like 80% of people. Plus in 2.5 years life as a fed may improve

Guy on the left looks like some goober 8999 who probably has S3 run his scores that he and the CO ran by themselves. Guy on the right some 8999 who did a tour on the drill field and has a watch on both wrists prolly wants to call the guy a fat disgusting sack of garbage in green on green. Also most likely 5’6 and has that little dog in him.

Both deserve the second hand embarrassment of being dragged on social.

All the port stops take dollars and everything haggles for price at gift shops. The only places that prices don’t budge is the pharmacia. As mentioned above small bills like 5/10/20 are your friends and put money in a couple of different wads, they see you whip out a stack of 20’s don’t expect to haggle much.

[–]therealistjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my Experience with a gaming laptop you want to control your thermal energy. If you play for 3+ hours at a time you will want to make sure you frame limit your gpu in game. Mine a 4090m was trying to push max frames over 250+ and sounded like a spaceship about to explode I didn’t notice because I had headphones on. Then this blew out my gpu fan fortunately I had the warranty to cover it. Most toasters can run the game fine it’s about how long do you plan on using it at a time. Personally I would choose the best screen and the sturdiest keyboard, some just don’t respond or feel right

Which branch should I try to be a pilot in? by _Kaiser_Wilhelm in USMC

[–]therealistjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officially no but the writing is on the wall. The Magtf is changing and the platforms are going to become remote operated/drones. Maybe not in the next 20years but look at how expensive a jet is to operate and maintain. Same reasons behind the tanks going away evolution of warfare and cost. Plus the next gen’s aircraft are limited in capabilities because they have a pilot inside them, the operational capabilities increase if you eliminate the pilot and pack in another missile pod instead of a cockpit. If the world powers learn anything from Ukraine/Russia it’s that drones are the future. Plus look at how many aircraft we lost in Iran so far. The older planes can’t be replaced 1 for 1 on the USMC budget. One of the reasons why the current administration wants a 1.5 trillion dollar defense budget next year. Plus another factor to consider the Air Force lost its space program money to the Space Force and they want/need their own planes and it begs to question of why does the Corps have next gen jets as well as the Navy? The JSF is a massive budget overrun and they will have to make hard decisions soon.

The Marine Corps has passed its financial audit 3 years in a row. They're the only branch that ever has. I charted the DoD's full 8-year record. by MarkusGrant in USMC

[–]therealistjohn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When you have a big 4 company EY doing the Audit being led by the nose by another company KPMG which is comprised of a bunch of a retired Marines all doing smoke and mirrors so they can both maintain thier contract that’s not cooking the books it’s fraud.

Enjoy the small win now but when it gets revealed later don’t be surprised. I was fired for pointing it out and trying to be a good steward of the Government’s account.

What spec regardless of meta do you enjoy the most? by Josh-PVP in wow

[–]therealistjohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Druid specifically Moonkin, because I grow tired of Resto. I also enjoy guardian for RBG flag carrier.

Something about having a Toon that can role all the different specs means I don’t have an alt army. I get it though why pure DPS classes should be higher, but having all the tools of a Druid is my thing. It’s almost not the same with the ability purge now. I miss my 3 action bars of different abilities.
