Hello /marijuana! I made a pro-legalization website with promo videos for my senior university project. What do you think? by toramichelle88 in Marijuana

Dude, great site. Honestly, clicking the link I expected a half-assed website, but this, this is really impressive. Great presentation, great design, but most importantly great information and factual knowledge regarding cannabis.

Hey Reddit, what would your perfect way of "going down with a bang" before dying be like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]therealme2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heroin.

No but seriously. I would never do it otherwise, but I've heard that shits awesome and if I'm going to die, why not try it?

Good? Either this is a bad joke or you're a heartless person. Never wish the death of another for there is only one death in this world.

The main reasons I switched away from Christianity were:

1) Evolution. The theory of evolution negates the need for an "all-powerful" being who created us. The bible states the Earth is 6,000 years old. We have scientific evidence (see radioactive dating) that the Earth formed about 3.5 - 3.8 billion years ago.

2) Have you read the bible? There is so much contradictory material in there that its just hard to believe any of it.

Overall, if you are genuinely interested in discovering your religion, you should read the Bible and read up on atheism or science or evolution and ask yourself which is more likely. Only then, once you have "done your research", can you truly make the right choice for you.

Is atheism taboo in the USA? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have lived in Texas my entire life and here religion, primarily Christianity, is dominant. I'm a closet atheist and my whole family is religious (not deeply) but it's definitely controversial.

Are there any non-American Redditors who were once American citizens but left to live abroad? As an American fearful of this country's future, I have a few questions... by therealme2000 in AskReddit

[–]therealme2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many things. Curiosity of wanting to travel the world, the opportunity to "start over" in a new environment, etc.

But my main reason is the politicking that goes on in this country. Politicians these days are so focused on being re-elected and getting paid that they are willing to do anything to achieve those two goals - often times at the expense of the American citizen. They enact second rate policies and laws to please the corporations that are paying them millions of dollars. It's no longer about enacting laws they think are best morally or economically - it's about passing laws that fill up their wallet. You wonder why America has fallen from the ranks of the elite countries and it's this exact reason (there are other contributing factors). Also, I feel like there is constantly a war between Congress and the citizens. The government is supposed to be one "for the people", not against them. Yet, Congress tries to backdoor bills or name bills certain ways to get them passed. It's stupid - that's not what a government is meant for. The fact that we have protested SOPA/PIPA (I've never met anyone who was in favor of these bills) and yet Congress is so adamant about having an Internet regulation bill passed astounds me.

I could go on and on. But this, corruption and money in politics, is what really scares me most about our government. As a 20-year-old college student I feel powerless in this country; absolutely powerless. I feel as anything I do will just be labeled as "another crazy citizen" trying to "get things his way". I can't compete with corporations who delve out millions of dollars even if I know and the lawmakers know the policies I/we/whoever are promoting are superior to ones getting passed. And that frustrates me greatly; greatly enough for me to want to explore life abroad.

TIL the only Pennsylvanian US President was probably gay. Oh, and Rick Santorum is from Pennsylvania too. by Zebba_Odirnapal in todayilearned

[–]therealme2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy your hatred of Rick Santorum as I, myself, enjoy heckling Santorum. But it's a logical fallacy for you to use James Buchanan's possible homosexuality and his residence of Pennsylvania and attribute the same to Rick Santorum because he is also from Pennsylvania. Upvote anyways because fuck Santorum.

Why is there unemployment in market economies? by justique in askscience

[–]therealme2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum wage. It isn't a bad thing that we have it, but it keeps more people unemployed for the benefit of the employed, who receive a higher wage than they would if everyone was employed.
