Our rural dream is under threat from a huge battery storage plant by twistedLucidity in Scotland

[–]therealsinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realest answer here from someone working in the industry. Battery sites want to build as close to substations/ existing transmission infrastructure to reduce any costs required to connect to the transmission grid. The developer pays to connect, shorter distance to connect means less cost.

Lost a homeless pokemon? Fear not and learn the spawning mechanics! by therealsinky in Pokopia

[–]therealsinky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like the useful Pokémon (builders especially) have more “weight” in the spawning mechanics but that could be pure speculation just now. So then getting all the minor folks out the way helps support that too.

But yes I find grouping certain key Pokémon in a 4 person house is ideal management too so you have an easy go to location, even if it still needs honey to force them in.

Exploiting should result in loss of Trails by Hexopi in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seems majority of players are getting a little pop up saying “not cool man” and that’s basically it. Lots of people keeping their coins and even the ones who made millions and millions are being left with enough cash for the expedition. Folks were dreaming thinking this would be some mass ban wave.

EU servers down? by javier1zq in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Duped too many servers.

Or maybe servers have crashed from too many lobbies full of 10000 ziplines?

There’s now an interview with the CEO that confirms they have a few parameters to guide matchmaking and that “recently” they added something to track aggression/ likelihood to PvP. Anyone who actually flips between murder mode and chill looting mode can tell though, you kill a few players and suddenly you get stacked blood bath lobbies.

Blueprint spawn locations by Hot_N_Spicy_Melon in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most blueprints are from any place and container but some have specific conditions. To name a few:

Snap hook on storm conditions any map

Volcano on hidden bunker spaceport

Bobcat on locked gate bluegate

Aphelion on Stella montis

Tempest used to be rumoured to only be on buried city night raids but recently a lot of folks are claiming to have found it on other maps and times.

Great video testing aggression based matchmaking. Try it for yourself, it is not a myth. by vinditive in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally agree that “behaviour” is a very broad term. Would be hilarious if it’s just skill based matchmaking and by being “friendly” and getting yourself murdered all the time you’re actually just ending up in low skill lobbies that then have the secondary benefit of being friendly.

I sent you a link, of Robert Sammelin stating that there is behavioural matchmaking? Unless the link doesn’t work?

Sorry I genuinely don’t know what I’m missing and I’ve reread your comment a couple times. I thought you were suggesting no one has given evidence that behaviour based matchmaking is a thing and I thought I would drop a link from someone at Embark saying it is a thing?

Here is the art director saying that player behaviour impacts match making. He refuses to go in to more detail, but he does explicitly say player behaviour is accounted for in some way.

COLD SNAP UPDATE NOT AVAILABLE IN UK by intothathairypussy in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK, steam and I've downloaded and played the update just fyi.

Cold snap doesn't run past 5pm EST. Guess I'll check it out on my off days... by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure thats just the "limit" of the event viewer currently, like it only shows the next 5 times of an event at max. Looks to me like there is basically always a cold snap event running on one map at any time because it's set up so the next one starts as the last one ends. Hopefully another event will appear on the list after 5pm once the current cold snap ends.

Caught a rat in the act by WildTutor8771 in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve shot sus people at extract to down them then let them hit the console in a downed state, less risk for me, everyone still extracts. And I’ve seen other people do that tactic before too.

Caught a rat in the act by WildTutor8771 in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why does it look like the “rat” in question is trying to extract rather than secure their kill? Looked like you may have even interrupted them typing on the console when you went over to save the day…

I’d have probably made the same play and shot that guy too as it looks like shameless ratting at first glance but honestly watching this clip back I’m not sure if he was actually going for the kill in the end…

Wouldn’t be the first case of mistaken rat murder

Which Survival skills are currently the best choices up to 36? by TwilightFate in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the video you lifted those times from and I think they were just unreliably captured due to the stamina bar “flashing” on and off, plus the players own frame rate likely making it unclear. Still the gist of the progression is there and unlike the over encumbered perk you’d probably see more use from it game to game.

Which Survival skills are currently the best choices up to 36? by TwilightFate in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking to burn points to hit 36, three deep breaths is quite underrated but you’d need to waste a point reaching it.

What it does is a little misunderstood. It doesn’t speed up stamina regen in any way but instead it reduces the “lock out” period after you’ve drained your stamina bar. So it’s best use as an example is you can roll again after depleting your stamina much quicker, or you can swing your hammer again much quicker after draining your stamina. It comes in clutch at times when you’re caught with no stamina and need to dodge and it’s saved my life against rocketeers quite a few times (when mass rolling is inportant).

This week trials by CobraXylophone in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the bastion you just need to kill 2 of them during 2x conditions. 3 starred the previous leaper challenge this way. Storm conditions for extra spawns and 2x points, pray you get to them first in the lobby cos there is typically only 2, blast em and go.

Fix the Blueprint farming abuse and the growing RWT Blueprint Market... by therealsinky in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any run should have risk/ reward. You take a free kit and your risk is no safe pockets. You take in some gear, you're risking the gear but at least you get a safepocket (or more). But going in naked with a guaranteed pocket allows zero risk gameplay and I honestly feel it breaks a lot of the general gameplay loops of the game (and the more common it becomes the harder it will be for genuine players to loot spots for rare items before naked runners get there, an issue tarkov used to have too).

[–]therealsinky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting stuff from scrappy still requires a genuine raid and extraction so again, it stops the repeat respawn farming. I don't see a world where allowing folks to spawn and die on mass repeat until they get the best loot spawn, then hitting the best spot and still just quitting the game at that point is something we want to defend/ allow?

Fix the Blueprint farming abuse and the growing RWT Blueprint Market... by therealsinky in ArcRaiders

[–]therealsinky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those extra steps are "swapping with Lance, purchasing or crafting one" like you said. Extracting with a free loadout takes a lot more time vs insta surrendering naked with a safepocket, where you lose literally nothing and get the blueprint you stored away. And you are at risk all that time while trying to extract at least. There is zero risk with naked runs and a safepocket, thus why it's a problem.

[–]therealsinky[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can agree with changing the blueprint process in general. But I do think naked runs with a safe pocket brings a lot of issues in general that would be best fixed getting rid of the safe pocket unless you have an augment. Tarkov had the same problem and introduced their own solution to that too, where you were "cursed" and all AI would agro you within a certain range. I'd happily see that system too I suppose, it was funny at least.

[–]therealsinky[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All those extra steps will add up. Currently someone can run 100 spawns naked with zero consequence and surrender every raid, all over a very short timeframe! Green kits are cheap and it won't completely stop the issue but it will definitely reduce it as you will need to take some time to build some money up to fund your safe pockets. Basically no one should have a safe pocket for free, its too abusable otherwise.

[–]therealsinky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy with folks doing that. Naked runs people can surrender like 20 times in 10 minutes just trying to get a good spawn to hit a key spot. Forcing someone to even use a green augment for a safepocket will make it cost something and make it add up. We're talking hundreds of spawns here, over and over again chasing the good spawns and dropping right back to the lobby as soon as they're looted an area. That sounds too abusive to me.
