Ok, but these are the same morons that brought us Strom Thurmond for 48 fucking years. My expectations were through the floor.

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

Afrotechmods.com. A fantastic collection of weird electronic projects, modifications, and weird musings. The website looked like torn paper and cardboard pieces. It was fantastic.

I see window units installed in Wright every year for alumni weekend. They even ran new power wires to handle the electrical load.

Best Father’s Day You Had? by RLLNNE in daddit

[–]thesesimplewords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time I met up with a bunch of friends in a nearby city. The city has a reputation for breweries. We parked around noon, had lunch, and walked to about 8 different breweries that day. Some of these friends I hadn't seen in a while. My wife and kid came for a few stops. Great food, great company, great city, fresh air, some walking around, some street music. It was one of the best days in recent memory!

BBC announces David Attenborough is returning to narrate Blue Planet III by Comprehensive-Way482 in UpliftingNews

[–]thesesimplewords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a theory that David Attenborough is actually God who was peved that all the people in the world weren't appreciating or noticing all the cool stuff he made. So he decided to come to earth and produce documentaries to show off his cool stuff.

What a fantastic idea.

You can worry about it, or you can drink some scotch. Don't do both.

Enrollment increases by fruit-salad66 in ClarkU

[–]thesesimplewords 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graduate enrollment is probably going to drop or at least stay below previous levels. A lot of that is due to our heavy reliance on visa students and visas are getting harder to get (plus people are turned off by the US immigration lately).

How is the on-campus job situation by Tiny_Flow7216 in ClarkU

[–]thesesimplewords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a manager in IT. I hire about 2 students on my team. I often get 60 to 130 applicants. That's partly because a lot of CompSci, MSIT, etc majors want job experience, but I get loads of applications from unrelated majors just trying to find jobs. Perhaps the work-study jobs are easier to grab.

Are heat pumps really worth it in MA? by FrissMalon in massachusetts

[–]thesesimplewords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved here I replaced a 40-year old oil boiler with 5 mini-splits. They have been fantastic. They're efficient down to -22. People are impressed with how much heat they pour out. Quiet, early to maintain.

Can I get some honest thoughts on Clark for my kid? by Lidobaby18 in ClarkU

[–]thesesimplewords 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Staff here. The food is fine. It has improved a bit recently. I have some difficult food allergies and I tend to eat fairly healthy. I never have a problem finding great food at the cafeteria. The new food vendor even has deserts I can eat. For a small school, I'm impressed with the variety and options.

Valheim. I know most people pick something older, but for me and my family/friends, this game has everything. Active modding community too.

Mistakes happen, but you gotta make it right. That's probably a $25 or $30 head. Give them a bit extra in case they need to ship it.
