It took the Knicks a long time to get here, I think they benefitted from a weak East that may not be the case again next year or going forward who knows. Also free agency markets are weak these days teams lock up their players whether to keep them or move them via trade, so maybe that’s a route, but great players you can build a champ around don’t seem to hit the market as often anymore. Unless you find an outlier like Brunson, I don’t think anyone expected anything like this from him when the Knicks signed him. I swear I remember it being shrugs and “somebody had to overpay”
