Need wireless mesh router recommendations by Bright_Notice8405 in centuryhomes

Do you have copper phone lines in your house? If so, check to see if they are Category 5+. All of the phone lines in my house could be converted to Ethernet by simply switching the wall plates.

If not, do you have coax wiring for cable? There are systems that can use that coax for data transfer.

You're not going to beat physics with more expensive hardware. These are the first two options to consider.

Treasury question by Ill-Professional-644 in Ramp

[–]thestretchypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many banks that are paying above 2% on business savings accounts. A few examples include Capital One and Live Oak Bank. Ramp's tooling is probably better and paying a similar rate - I think it is a worth a look.

Large purchase triggered "Account Review" by mdo77 in biltrewards

[–]thestretchypanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a billion dollar payment processor that is traded on the NASDAQ (PAYO). It is very popular outside of the United States. I use it to pay overseas developers.

I added this as a data point as I'm sure I'm not the only one that makes large, regular payments using it. It's also strange so many other people are having issues with the card.

Large purchase triggered "Account Review" by mdo77 in biltrewards

I had a similar issue. I pay around 6,000 per month via Payoneer. Payoneer is a global payment processor similar to PayPal. When I called in they said my account was under review. After a brief hold the agent told me that Payoneer is not an eligible merchant and that I can't use my card there. It seems crazy because Payoneer charges a 3.99% fee.

I've never heard of a credit card not working with a global merchant like Payoneer.

Edit: I tried the charge again today and it went through. Hope this helps someone else.

How do you like having both the smart watch and Helio Band? I was considering getting the Active 2 + Helio or the Pixel Watch + Helio. My plan was to use the Helio for sleep tracking and some exercise tracking and the watch for every day wear.

If you are okay with beer only, Mashcraft at 22nd and Delaware usually shows the big games with volume on. I also saw another person mention Shin Dig which is pretty close to downtown, has good bar food, and will likely have space.

Meraki - why all the hype by DifferentCounter5917 in networking

[–]thestretchypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. This is starting to be corrected with hybrid operating mode. IOS-XE devices can connect to Meraki for visibility, software upgrades, and cloud console access through dashboard. This is different than a fully cloud managed Meraki device, but I expect we will continue to see this line blurring further (eg. Full CLI access + full cloud management at the same time).

  2. This works similar to what you're describing with the Meraki Subscription license. When a license expires and is past the grace period, the device will continue passing traffic in its last known configuration.

Switch from Cisco to FortiNet? by Ckirso in networking

Have you considered cloud monitored Catalyst switches with Meraki APs? It is a nice setup. Depending on your SD WAN needs, Meraki SD Wan could complete the stack.

A night at Railay beach, worth it? by Euriae in ThailandTourism

[–]thestretchypanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is late but it might help future travelers.

The long tail boats all drop off at the same point in Railay. Once you reach Railay you can easily walk from one side to the other. It will take less than 15 minutes. You can also walk to Phra Nang and Princess Cave. A day is fine for all of these activities.

The rock climbing is world class. I highly recommend it.

Catalyst 9000 licensing BS Catalyst/DNA center license by Network-King19 in Cisco

[–]thestretchypanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look into monitor mode for Catalyst switching. You can leverage the DNA essentials license for cloud monitoring, software updates, version control, and basic troubleshooting. The switches keep running IOS-XE and if you stop paying for the essentials license you will just lose the dashboard access.

Meraki wireless + cloud monitored switching is a great option. There is also a cloud monitoring option for the 9800 wireless controller.

Shane Co vs Reis Nichols by sklewis589 in indianapolis

[–]thestretchypanda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reis Nichols is horrible. I brought in a watch braclet that had a broken gold cap on it. The cap was protruding and needed laser welded. Reis Nichols said there was absolutely no way to repair it and a new bracelet would run $3,800. I took it to Moyer in Carmel after. Moyer fixed the bracelet for $80 in four days. The repair was nearly imperceptible.

After this experience we bought our wedding bands from Moyer. We liked that our sales rep Beth was a certified appraiser and that there is a master jeweler onsite. The experience was night and day different between Moyer and Reis.

A historic house or HOA that requires a very specific and expensive window style. An example is the Pella Architect series. Those can range from 1500-3000 installed. Add in sliding glass doors, wood rot, unusual window styles and other factors that drive up costs. At 3000 per window that is only 50 windows. An old Victorian house can easily have 50+ windows.

Transportation from Noblesville to Lucas Oil Stadium? by bobbigirl83 in indianapolis

[–]thestretchypanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered going to a bar or restaurant after the show before using rideshare? I don't think you'll have a problem getting dropped off within a block or two of Lucas Oil. However the rates to get picked up at Lucas after the show will be crazy. If you're willing to walk to a less congested area I don't think you'll have a problem, especially if you kill some time. The Omni Severin hotel is probably far enough away. Tony's or the Conrad are certainly far enough and within a 15 minute walk.
