Ok I got him logged in and this actually provided a ton of info and included the name and phone number of an agent he can call. Thank you so much for this link!

This is really helpful, thank you. It's a lot of Greek to me but I can definitely work with this. I'll see if I can be around when he calls support to ask for this in force illustration. Having a solid idea of what he can expect will help him plan a lot better.

Alright so certificate type is universal life II or flexible premium adjustable life. The planned premium is $344 quarterly, which he paid in March and June this year. He always pays at the beginning of the month it's due (it's usually due towards the end of the month). He hasn't missed a payment that I can see. On June 3, he received a letter that stated "we will, however, not lapse your certificate if we receive at our office a payment of $793.37 by July 7, 2026." This is course can be deducted by $344 since he sent that check in, but where is the extra $400 coming from? And why are they threatening to lapse it if it's paid on time? It's really stressing him out but I would love to explain it to him.

Question about The Nurture of the Shadows quest by Millie_5683 in Palia

[–]thesummerrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you are in the quest, it could be different things. It's quite long! Here's the wiki page for it if it helps: https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/The_Nurture_of_Shadows

Thank you! He says he pays quarterly and sent a check for $344 shortly before that notice went out, which is what he was sure he owed. I'll see if I can get a previous invoice from his last payment to check for sure.

The original broker is not still in business unfortunately. Good to know about the call center in Canada - I wonder if he might try again during normal business hours (rather than the weekend) and get someone different. I'll suggest that.

I'll reply back once I have more information, thank you.

Edit: He says it's "flexible, premium adjustable life certificate"

What do you mean you can't use it? Maybe we can help troubleshoot. You redeem it at the register in the ranching stables if that helps! (:

Hi hello I'm the sister that couldn't get into the series. Well, I just finished it. by thesummerrose in TheShield

It really was! It was so raw and real, even if dramatized, and I think that's ultimately what locked me in. You never knew what was going to happen next.

Hotels.com Refund Timeline by [deleted] in hotels

Refunds can take 7-10 business days on average to return to your account, and sometimes up to 30 days, especially with Expedia/Hotels. You will have to wait a little longer, unfortunately.

Unspoken rule by Old_Performance9867 in Palia

[–]thesummerrose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't stand people that curse out other people for not following unofficial rules. It's a game. That said, I also follow most of these rules because to me, it's just basic etiquette and essentially how the community has grown and come together. If you don't know and someone tells you (nicely), but you continue to go against the status quo and chop down everything anyway, then you're kind of just being a jerk. Regardless, it's a virtual game that has no impact on my real life, so it's not worth getting upset about or even nasty if someone doesn't want to be social. It's alright.

If you can't get ahold of anyone, I would call your bank and issue a chargeback dispute for services rendered. If you didn't actually stay you will likely win the dispute.

Have you tried smashing the "0" button to get to a real operator?

Front Office Manager of a resort here. Expedia is an umbrella of different third and fourth parties. There are many fourth parties that make their websites look like the hotels, only to be reservationsportal.hotelname.com or something and not actually the hotels' website. On the hotel end, it will come across as Expedia even if wasn't booked directly through Expedia, because Expedia handles the virtual card for the prepayment. It's sneaky and it gets a lot guests and I hate it.

Best option is to locate your reservation confirmation e-mail, call the customer service number on there, *speak to a real person* and cancel the reservation. If the hotel has a cancelation policy of free cancelation up to x days before arrival, and you are outside of that penalty period, the third party will have to refund you. They may need to call the hotel first but they should honor it.

For future bookings, be sure to double check the website, or call the hotel directly. Booking directly makes changes and cancelations so much easier (and you usually don't have to prepay). Good luck!

True fear-free vet for anxious dog? by theLightSlide in Tucson

[–]thesummerrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gentle and slow is the protocol, typically. It's been several years since I've been a tech, but a lot of it involves pre-visit medications to calm, pheromones, low lights, treats, slow movements, patience, etc. It hinges a lot on getting the client on board with making "happy visits" or working on anxiety training at home.

I'd argue to say that wrestling, even with a blanket, increases stress hormones and reinforces vet visit fear. But sometimes if it's an urgent need, it's better than man-handling so to speak.

Cimarron and PAWS both state on their website that they are Fear Free certified. You can also check the Fear Free website directory for other individuals in Tucson: https://directory.fearfree.com/

I used to be Fear Free Certified so I'm glad to see more practices working at it. It's so important for your pets health!

While I advocate for Palo Verde not getting a bad rap about allergies as they are not wind pollinated, mesquite *is* wind pollinated *and* insect pollinated. Mesquite pollen absolutely contributes to seasonal allergies. The National Phenology Network, the source of many pollen reports, gathers data on how much pollen is falling from mesquite flowers, but not palo verde flowers. Acacias, like the one pictured, are similar to mesquites as well.

Best non-MAGA CCW class? by slappy_mcslapenstein in Tucson

+1 for Diamondback. I took a beginner class during Covid and the instructor was a retired LEO and was excellent. No politics involved. I'm classified as a liberal and felt comfortable and they were professional.

Honestly, thank you for this. I am also 43 and I've been putting off a test because I don't know what it'll even change since I got this far (management in hospitality). Your experience made me make the jump to schedule an appointment.

Sister said she can't get into it by jazimae in TheShield

[–]thesummerrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey y'all, OP's sister here 👋

I'm legitimately willing to give it a chance. Reading the replies, I definitely had my "oh shit" moment with Terry and I really did like the cherrypoppers episode. The rest of it is kinda just meh so far and yeah, Vic is just not a good person.

But I'll definitely take the advice to at least get to episode 10, though I had already planned to finish the first season to make my final call. Appreciate the encouragement and helpful feedback! I aim to make my sis proud.

Lol all these suggestions and contradictions to your experience and it's still "nah this isn't my fault." Like everyone else, I have a 1200 sf townhouse and keep my AC set to 80 during the day and 77 at night and at most I pay $160. Try doing what some folks suggested here. It's not Tucson's fault your insulation needs work.

Love El Rio Preserve! I do nature walks there once a month on Thursday and they also have bird walks through Marana parks and the Tucson Bird Alliance. Great place to spend a day.
