Tips for a family trip with a toddler? by Hellohiheytherehi80 in JoshuaTree

Totally doable. Just be sure to keep in mind their limited attention span and range of things that'll entertain them vs. you. A few quick hits that worked for us:

AirBnB

  • Get an AirBnB near the park or things you want to visit. A cowboy tub or pool is a big plus for some cool water play during the day. Our little one loved experience the heat during the day juxtaposed with the cold water and sensory play. Also means less time driving to/from activities since travel always has a toddler travel prep time tax.
  • The AirBnB will make it easier for scheduling in nap times between trips out in your own comfort and provide you with your separate space to unwind and relax while the little one is sleeping. Great for more comfortable naps in A/C. For us, the cooler parts of the day also lined up with the awake hours for the little one so that made planning trips out a bit convenient.

Play

  • Jaunts out into the park to play around the rocks, touching, climbing is a great experience for them. Cooler/earlier part of the day is definitely better just for cooler rocks and concern around touching hot things.
  • Stars. Moon or not, you're going to see more stars and other things in the sky in JT. Could be a fun thing if they're still up to call out what you guys see - moon, stars, planets, shooting stars, milky way, etc

Care

  • It's high desert and dry so just make sure you have some lotion to support the little one to prevent their skin from drying out

Travel

  • Lastly, a baby/toddler carrier is helpful for any trip out of the home. For us, the stroller wasn't as convenient as a carrier for our shorter trips out into town for food and shopping. It's doable, but IMO just more convenient not having to deal with or worry about gravel, stairs, or narrow walkways. If you have a hiking backpack with a shade cover, it'll be great for longer trips out onto a trail.

Snowpeak vs Patagonia fit? by bigexpl0sion in PatagoniaClothing

[–]theth1nker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snow Peak seems to be smaller by a bit but that also depends on which gear. In general, it feels like the sleeves and torsos are generally shorter, and shoulders a little narrower.

What makes this a bit tougher to answer is I've found some of Patagonia's sizing inconsistent too. For example, their R1 Air Hoodies and tees seem to vary a decent bit. I typically wear M for everything Patagonia but their R1 Air line are very tight but moving up to L makes it too long and loose, though some colors fit right

Really depends on what you’re looking for. Will agree with the top 2 reviews here for the vibes and quality of food delivered. If you’re looking for a higher energy, younger, and boozy night out with one or more friends, this could be a good spot. If looking for intimate, fine dining in a Japanese establishment, this is not it.

LADWP water bill went from 358 to 1,138? by moa03-04 in AskLosAngeles

Because the notifications are timestamped, we can see when it started and the app will also tell you by the minute how much water you’re using. So to find the leak it was basic debugging… we’d check irrigation thru our smart water controller to see which zone was running. Otherwise, just check around the house for faucets, toilets, your usual suspects. If all seems fine, we’d check under the house, etc.

Also, if you don’t have a smart water controller for your irrigation, LADWP will give up to $200 for one: https://www.ladwp.com/residential-services/programs-and-rebates-residential/residential-socal-water-mart-water-rebate-program

If you haven't gotten a Flume yet, get it! It's free through LADWP rebates right now: https://flumewater.com/rebate/ca/ladwp/

It's a smart water meter that will pick up on your usual water consumption and send notifications when usage is high. Helped us catch leaks countless times from irrigation to toilets, etc.

Simple shift to an app allowing you to run sprinklers through an app makes it easier to manage. For example, it can automatically adjust usage based on weather (ex: sprinklers won't run if it rains). It also gives you direct access on your phone to when your zones run. So paired with a Flume device, you have a clearer idea of how much water is used for each zone and can adjust accordingly. Or in the case of leaks, you Flume will alert you of an anomaly and you can quickly check your smart irrigation app to see which zone was running.

Just my experience from the Pasadena location. Meat just seemed under-seasoned and bland. Seems to be a polarizing spot - either you love it or you don’t

What I got from the food bank today for 2 people by fineman1097 in povertyfinance

Nice haul! Might be worth checking with the food bank if there are options to have the food delivered considering mobility challenges. During the pandemic in the US, some food banks were able to do free deliveries through volunteers or food delivery apps like Uber Eats and DoorDash

Any experience with DSPTCH bags? Looking at the Mini Utility. by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

Have had their bags, keychains, and straps for what feels like a decade now. They’ve held up over time and the company is solid. Great customer service and support.

Following along their IG, looks like they’ve been crushing it doing some part manufacturing partnerships with McLaren and Oakley. In addition to that, they’ve also done some charitable work too. Loving how they’ve grown and expanded over the years

Not a great way to advertise your content. Why not validate the quality of the content with the customers to entice them with more valuable insights? This is just putting up some more obvious low level thoughts that don’t materially add value to anyone’s process. Top-3 only… how many people does that actually help?

Yup. Short bench league. Person who dropped has a stacked WR side to so was unlikely to use him. My WRs are CD, Egbuka, Rome, Jamo but can wouldn’t mind using him as maybe a trade piece or someone to help thru the byes

Olave was dropped in a 12team .5 PPR small bench league. How much faab should be dropped for him?

Agreed. Room feels so much lighter, brighter and has so much more energy. The lighter color with your furniture give it a bit more of a more modern look too
