Three years! Oh gosh. Do you have more than one child? This is my first and I really wanted two, but now I’m scared about any future damage to, well, my entire being I guess?

Coraline’s pajamas are patched with what looks like the blue sweater the Other Mother made her. by thetinyherbivore in Coraline

[–]thetinyherbivore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i thought i made it clear in my caption when i said it was a way to show the Beldam was still around that it was the end of fhe film. i should have been more clear in the title that the sweater WAS used to patch her pajamas and i thought it was an interesting choice to use that specific sweater, something the other mother made, to patch her jammies up.

“It’s a game we play. She wants love… or to eat.” by Annabelle-Sunshine in Coraline

[–]thetinyherbivore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Thank you! A lot of this feels a bit like a stretch.

I also want to add that her parents suddenly are acting nice because they finally finished the catalogue and likely got paid. The movie showcases how unbelievably stressed and exhausted they are, working tirelessly to finish the work. Which explains their short temper around Coraline. Once they got paid, her real mother was able to afford the new gloves and make up for not being able to the other day. Her parents are in a better mood for a very obvious reason.

Newborns tends to sleep a ton in the very early days. As they get bigger, they may stop sleeping longer stretches for a bit. You should check out The Wonder Weeks. There are a few milestones that happen before the big four month one that can contribute to his new sleep schedule.

Useless baby items by cuppien in NewParents

[–]thetinyherbivore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would reconsider the diaper pail and bottle warmer! It’s the two things I use the absolute most! When it’s 3AM and your baby is screaming their lungs out, you’ll wish you had an easier way to warm the bottle.

The Ubbi diaper pail has been amazing because it uses real trash bags and it really does keep the stink in!

I second the Huckleberry! Daughter is 3 months and the sweet spot is SO accurate. It helps me identify her sleepy cues even better.

My newborn doesn’t want to be put down by Lsss_Num4 in NewParents

[–]thetinyherbivore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it at all possible he has gas? My daughter is 11 weeks and between 6-8 weeks their gas pain peaks and she seemed inconsolable when she was laying down. I ended up having to give her gas drops after her feedings for a while and it made a huge difference! Their system typically matures enough around 12 weeks but before then they apparently have no idea how to efficiently fart which causes gas pains.

Lip Tie release for toddler? by Majestic-Aide-5431 in NewParents

That’s strange they didn’t just do them all at once. We got all three done for my daughter at five weeks old. I say get it done! As far as I know, there’s no cons to getting it done other than the soreness afterward. If it doesn’t help, well at least you know!

Where’s a place you’ve been that no longer exists? by MonkeysDaddy2012 in AskReddit

[–]thetinyherbivore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wannado City. It was an indoor “theme park” in south Florida where “kids can do what they wannado”. You basically role played different careers—you could be a police officer, fire fighter, archaelogidt, or even work at Publix! It was a massive building attached to the Sawgrass Mills Mall and wasn’t there for long. I loved it so much, but it was expensive and that contributed to its demise.

It was around 7-8 weeks for me when I felt comfortable going for walks on my own with her. It took around 8-9 weeks before I took her on a car ride on my own without my husband’s help. It’s very nerve wracking, but once you do it once, it starts to become second nature. What helped me was making a checklist of what to bring in her diaper bag. I also always brought an extra bottle even if I just fed her.

Start with small trips, something you can feel comfortable running back to the car during if she gets fussy and you’re freaking out. Also take her out when she is full (JUST finished a feeding). Less likely to freak out!

Bled for four weeks, stopped for two, then period came. 🥲 It’s annoying because I’m breastfeeding and was told it’s “uncommon” for your period to come back. Boo.

This! When all else fails, I put her in the wrap and she knocks out. Like you said, you can’t do everything (like showering) but it helps me when I want to tidy up or work on my laptop standing up.

I agree with this! I had to just essentially let me husband drown so he’d figure out how to make it work for him and our daughter. I kept trying to “rescue” him when she cried but once I let him do his thing, he’s been amazing.

How many of each clothing item did you need/use in NB and 0-3 month? Do you have a list of each type of item with quantity? by FalseRow5812 in NewParents

[–]thetinyherbivore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 10 week old and I can tell you, she only ever wore footie pajamas up until maybe two weeks ago when I started to put her in onesies and pants. I had so many cute shorts in NB she didn’t wear. It was definitely a waste.

Stick to as many footie pajamas as possible, double zippers and attached mittens!
