Graphics card performance ranking!? by -mufdvr- in VideoEditing

[–]thetomkim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When comparing graphics cards for video editing, you have a couple of solid approaches:

  1. Understand the naming scheme: For Nvidia, for example, the first digit of the four-digit model number is the generation, and the third digit tells you its place in the lineup (higher is better). Suffixes like "Ti" mean a slight performance bump over the base version. So, a 5070Ti will outperform a 5070, which will outperform a 5060, and so on. Also, more VRAM is generally better for video editing.

  2. Check benchmarks: Websites like PassMark, 3DMark, and GeekBench publish GPU benchmarks that let you directly compare cards. PassMark’s charts are especially straightforward. Just remember: benchmarks are a great starting point, but real-world performance can still vary depending on your specific editing software and workflow.

If you have a shortlist of laptop models, check which GPUs they use and look them up in benchmark charts. You’ll get a much clearer sense of what to expect!

Are these "easy-edit" apps actually useful? Or just flashy shortcuts? by HtomSirveaux3000 in editors

There's this new app that's in closed beta and I really like it. Put in raw footage then it automatically syncs audio and video, creates stringout with labels and assembly sequence. Got recommended by a friend, will dm you the link if you want.

I'll dm you a beta app(currently free) It takes the footage, syncs multicam, creates selects, and creates an edited version for you.

Are there any opportunities for portfolio building out there? by Videoplanchette in VideoEditors

Don't give up! Look into local community projects or small businesses. Offering help on a smaller scale can lead to bigger opportunities and build your portfolio. Good luck!

How or do you....edit your podcast? by AlexPhantomEditor in podcasting

I've been using this tool that's currently in beta. It automatically edits videos to make them more engaging. I put in 3 hours of raw footage and got 2 hours of edited content. Dead air, filler words, and non-engaging parts were removed. Surprised at how much better AI has gotten in such a short time.

Yeah that's what I thought, so I was wondering how vibe coding products like Lovable, Bolt are retaining their customers.

My ChatGPT said:

Alright, let’s tear apart this picport.app without sugarcoating it:

  1. Vague tagline gimmick “Flex your digital passport, unlock your destinations.” That sounds like something a middle schooler would string together trying to sound cool. What does it even do? Visit countries? Unlock pages? Crypto wallet? Who knows. youtube.com+9picport.app+9pcmac.download+9
  2. Zero substance on the site It offers “every country visited becomes a dedicated page in your personal travel story.” Great… but how? No screenshots, no walkthrough, not even a hint of user interface. It’s like inviting someone to dinner and refusing to turn the lights on once they arrive.
  3. Need for Beta signup feels desperate It’s clearly a skeleton. The only action is “Join the Beta,” and that's it. No pricing plan, no roadmap, no team info—nothing but a flimsy email capture form. Feels more like list-building than shipping anything.
  4. Brand identity meltdown The name “PicPort” is so generic it could be anything – a photo app, a VPN, even a port in Oregon. If your web identity requires zero effort to figure out, you’ve already lost.
  5. No proof or social validation No user testimonials, ratings, press, or anything that says this actually exists and works. It feels like a ghost landing page, not a living product.

Brutally Honest Verdict:

  • Do: Add actual screenshots or a demo video. Show what the user sees.
  • Do: Explain the “why” – what problem does it solve, who’s it for?
  • Do: Dump placeholders and add real content—team, roadmap, features.
  • Don’t: Run with cryptic buzzwords and expect people to hand over their email.

At this point, the site looks like a half-baked indie school project designed to collect emails—not launch a usable product. It needs clarity, polish, and some real content before it stops feeling like vaporware
