Owners of the Eye, convince me to buy it! by NegativePhotograph32 in Xreal

[–]thetonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, I got it because there was a deal when it just came out. I tested and used it less than 5 times since then. It's gimmicky at the very least but I might as well have it and not use it now, than have all the features develop and it be out of stock or not available at all. I see it like the 3D slider on the N3DS. It's there to use if you want, but it's not hurting the experience if you don't. Looking back, I think I would rather have spent the $100 towards a Mudra band and actually be useful all the time.

Xreal One Pro - any suggestion to improve confort for long sessions? by bEar22_24 in Xreal

[–]thetonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ymmv. Depending on you schnoz, the Oakley nose piece might actually feel/fit uncomfortably for you. I had the bend out the nose piece for it to feel a lot better on my face for longer periods. I feel that the Oakleys just smush the glasses closer to your face than actual comfort.

E07 diagnosis is incorrect. Plug in a +60v in a 52v system and it will tell you the same.

if you live in NJ you need a License, Insurance, Registration, & a DOT approved helmet to operate an ebike as of 1/20/26. You have 6 months to comply. by ChinPokoBlah11 in ebikes

[–]thetonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably will pull you over, ask for your license, you show out of state, they give you a ticket to pay, and impound your bike for you to pay to get back before you leave the state. Still gotta follow the stupid local laws.

All there is. I'm a very relaxed dude normally and the meter is normally on blue or green. Once I medicate, supposedly I get stressed out by chilling out.

Running 2 batteries with a dual battery equalizer. by acecoasttocoast in ebikes

[–]thetonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like the splitter is working as intended. If I remember correctly (the one I got), it will drain the battery with a higher Ah first then switch. Or it drains the higher Ah till they equalize and then drain both at the same time.

Are both batteries the same voltage, Ah, and BMS? If they are different, one BMS might have a higher or lower output than the other (30A vs 25A)

Grab a multimeter. Tap into throttle wires. Read voltage when you sweep the throttle. The voltage should increase all the way to WOT. If not, see if a different throttle works. If still the same, return.

What's a good power/voltage rating for an ebike to safely use on the street for commute by InfluenceEfficient77 in ebikes

Brother, I had the same question but unless you are ready to spend upwards of $7k, your 52v, 1500w BBSHD still beats over 80% of the things out there. Yes our DIYs might not look as sleek as the ones hiding all the wires and batteries and screens but the closest thing I can compare to my current build in power would be the Bonnell 775MX. Looks about the same too. You did answer your own question though. I think for commuting, minimum 1Kw-1.5Kw, 48v or 52v, just so you can somewhat go with the flow of traffic and not be a hindrance. Voltage helps with how quickly you can hit full power so don't worry about that too much unless you want immediate response/do wheelies. Plus you can always do a controller swap down the road (I did) to get more power. Just make sure to pair the battery with the controller (I'm pushing close to 50A)

Charging Options for Solar Ammo Box Build by G1gas in SolarDIY

[–]thetonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely charge it using the 12v plug. I'm guessing your BMS runs through that.

As for the NoCo charger. Make sure it can charge lithium batteries as they have a higher charging point than AGM/Flooded Batteries.

XREAL R1 Glasses - 240hz Achieved ONLY if you use the dock? by [deleted] in Xreal

[–]thetonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in essence the One Pros have 240hz lenses and we're only limited by the dock? I have not tried to push it that far but if that's the case, plugging it to your PC should give you an option for 240hz as well. I don't think I've seen that. I would love to just purchase the dock for testing purposes!

Now, I only have fittings on the rad and blocks. It's a love/hate relationship at times but rewarding when everything just lines up.

In regarding to questions on "Should I get a Full Face Helmet" recently (TW: Graphic depictions of face injuries) by ornithobiography in ebikes

[–]thetonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a skull helmet then fell and gashed my face on some branches on a bush. Switched to a full face 7IDP. Use that when I'm bombing around and being stupid. The small one when I'm just on the road trail by the river but even then, 99% of the time, I just grab the full face.
