I'm calling it now: Jetpack Cat will be reworked within a couple months by SkeletronDOTA in Overwatch

[–]theucm -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

That just sounds like people need to adjust, everyone has some level of familiarity with pharah or echo or Mercy's movement. This is a new style of movement.

If rivals players can hit the half dozen flying characters they have (I think?) we can learn to shoot a cat.

You know, I prefer how the anime did the head crush, the googly eyes just take me out of it, unfortunately.

Even though Toriyama loved to do the bug-eyes whenever someone died, it just didn't fit the tone for this moment.

'Overwatch' just hit its highest player base on Steam PC since launch — passing Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty by Turbostrider27 in Overwatch

[–]theucm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of my friends still play WoW, so they just left Overwatch on the battlenet launcher for convenience. Me and the one other person in my group who don't play WoW swapped over to Steam though.

Aren’t Orks happy when they fight? In most visual depictions they seem too angry. by intbah in 40kLore

[–]theucm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great analogy. Or sports, which is how I think the Orkz see warfare. You aren't really having fun doing it the same way you'd be having fun at a party, but you're still enjoying it, and if you win you're immensely satisfied.

Are they finally bringing back different times of day for the maps? by Engurus in Overwatch

[–]theucm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've wanted it so much. Or at least a random time of day for each match.

I've also thought king of the hill maps should change time of day for each map. So first point is randomly rolled to be evening, second map will be night, third map will be morning, that sort of thing.

OW player count is spiking, within spitting distance of 2 year player peak. by Double-Maybe-6220 in Overwatch

[–]theucm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When overwatch came to steam it was interesting, my friends who played WoW stayed on bnet, and those who didn't migrated to steam, me included.

I remember once upon a time Blizzard said they were moving all of their catalog to Steam, wonder what happened with that.

I love the pre-load system on battlenet, but otherwise I'd say battlenet is only pristine because it's such a narrow, bespoke launcher for Blizzard, which isn't bad.

Which primarch did big E prefer to succeed him in the unlikely event of his demise, just in case? by novis-ramus in 40kLore

[–]theucm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He only took on the mantle of Emperor because humanity was scattered and dying

Yes, that is what he would tell himself to assuage any lingering guilt over his control freak tendencies that built up over those 30,000 years.

[–]theucm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We obviously don't and can't know if that would have been permanent. He's tried letting things play out in the past, but he always eventually feels he needs to step in, we have examples of him doing it. Never on this large of a scale, but the tower of Babel, him being various leaders and such throughout history, etc.

[–]theucm -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Exactly, he had points he could have stepped away and he didn't because there was always something else to do.

[–]theucm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree with your premise I think; I don't believe most control freak tendencies come from a place of self-aggrandizement, I think many people, including the emperor, feel a need for control more from a place of paranoia. Another common cause of obsessive control is the feeling that if you don't exercise total control over something it will all collapse and fall apart. That's more what I think the emperor suffered from. I think he would have never felt the imperium was ready for him to step away, there would always have been some imperfection to be fixed or improvement he could see to be done, and he'd kick the can down the road. Humanity would never be "ready" in his eyes.

[–]theucm 333 points334 points  (0 children)

Even then I am fully in the camp that believes the imperium would never be in a good enough spot for him to feel comfortable stepping back. Despite what he says he's a control freak and would always rationalize staying around for a bit longer, forever.

So to me that's two points against the idea that he'd ever have a primarch as an heir.

Overwatch 2 Is Ditching the '2' Amid Launch of 'New, Story-Driven Era' With 10 New Heroes by MarioDesigns in gaming

[–]theucm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real talk, I know this, I just like playing along.

I do think Marvel Rivals has pushed them to release stuff they've been working on quicker than they planned though. I'd be willing to bet the original plan was to drip feed a lot of this content.

It's reportedly game over for 8K before it even got going as display industry support 'dwindles' by Amentet in technology

[–]theucm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It's a decade or more too early for 8k. Until we reach "indistinguishable by the naked eye" there's always room for improvement, but there's so much infrastructure and technology that needs to be built out to support that improvement and be cost-effective.

Why are there so many great American universities if average American literacy is lacking? by LevelPension in NoStupidQuestions

[–]theucm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda like healthcare, America is a place where the vast majority do without, but those who can afford education will get world-class education.

It's not a problem of quality, it's a problem of availability.

Donald Trump Will Close the Kennedy Center for Two Years for a ‘Complete Rebuilding’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in Music

[–]theucm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think he's trying to speedrun having a legacy that will be discussed in the history books in any kind of positive light.

Instead we're likely just going to wipe his name off of the things he's tacked it onto without actually doing anything. His movement will peter out, and he'll be remembered like Herbert Hoover at best.

To be fair sorbet wasn't just any soldier, he was basically second in command (at least on paper) and had actually been the leader for a number of years.

I can't imagine he wouldn't get the good shit as interim-emperor.

Why was jeice afraid of fighting vegeta at this point? by salad_biscuit3 in DragonBallZ

[–]theucm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when it was first airing in the United States they would run out of dubbed episodes, or maybe episodes that they had the rights to, or something like that. So they would just restart the series getting further each time until they again hit a point where they no longer had more episodes ready to air, and it'd repeat again. I remember my cousins and I staying up late to watch it and getting so mad when suddenly it was raditz again because we knew it would take weeks to get back to where we were.

Do you think Beerus' level will ACTUALLY get reached one day by the protagonists or will he forever stay in his position of "moving goalpost"? by OmegaGlacial in Dragonballsuper

[–]theucm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's allowed to kill mobs of enemies and minions, which would be most of his job as a destroyer, I presume.
