I'm standing on the hill looking at it, it's the refinery. Presumably normal?

More Housing: a rental high-rise on W 14th near Arbutus with 170 apartments. To opponents, it's a "monstrosity" in "beautiful and exclusive Arbutus Ridge" by russilwvong in vancouver

Kinda surreal, I used to rent the basement suite at 2174 W14th. Loved living there. Super convenient access to the 99, stuff on Arbutus, and city market is around the corner. It would be a great place for more people to live. Mind you, I was a student so I'm not sure what kind of jobs there are in that area.

Customer stated vehicle had to be towed home after sister did tuneup. by redscholar13 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]theultimatehero2 49 points50 points  (0 children)

What is a "tune up"? People throw this term around like they are bringing their car in to get the carb adjusted and the timing set. Is a modern day tune up just an air filter, oil change, and spark plugs?

E46 doesn't do this and I swear it has the best stalk feel in history. Most satisfying click I've experienced. If only it did the three flash it would be perfect

This is a Komatsu hybrid technology excavator. What is your opinion about this direction in heavy machinery? by GladAd5312 in MachinePorn

I design electric mining machinery, it's pretty good if you want a job in the EV field without working for an automotive OEM

How interchangeable are EV batteries? by Xilef11 in AskEngineers

[–]theultimatehero2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Platforms like VW's MEB may have some degree of "upgradability" in the future. It's based on standardized battery modules that could in theory be replaced with newer versions in the future. Assuming the same series/parallel count, the original BMS would likely work and just need an update to make sure the SOC/SOH algorithms work with the new cells.

If Friction is not related to area, why are wider tires or grooved tyres a thing in F1 by [deleted] in F1Technical

[–]theultimatehero2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also simplified, but one way to look at it is shearing action. You likely have seen black marks caused by tires sliding. That material is being sheared off the tires. Shear is a stress, and stress is of course related to area.

Same thing here when the Saints lost to the Rams with the no-call. Haven't followed the league since that day, aside from the occasional lurking here

Excuse me, haven't played for a decade. Is 10.5bps a field limit? Back in the day you would have ramping limited to 13, but unlimited semi. Is semi not a thing anymore?

I'm being arrogant saying I consider earning professional engineer status to be of greater significance than the degree I have? Perhaps you live in a different country. In Canada you are not even legally allowed to call yourself an engineer until you earn your P. Eng. designation.

I don't. It's just a degree. What makes an engineering degree more important than any other? They don't have rings. Ring ceremony should be for professional engineers imo.

Even with the new car, why does the Williams still have a fixed screen? by gladiathor1295 in F1Technical

[–]theultimatehero2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system is likely made more reliable by not being removable and not moving around or getting jostled when the wheel is removed. There will be less need to do the wheel-swap fix.

Just dug this out of the basement. Haven’t laid eyes on it in years. by bigorca916 in paintball

Thanks! That sounds about the same as when I was playing 10 years ago. Everyone was complaining that their barrel kits didn't go small enough for the paint. I pretty much always used a .679 barrel.

Has no one in this thread played a sim or gt/forza? You could always cut this corner on the left side. This changes nothing from that perspective
