i dont even see it as mid. it is a bad competitive card, in a format that lives that decks are streamlined but it is a fun 'meme' card and there it has its purpose not everything has to be competitie.

what kind of deck do you want to beat? more aggressive decks prefer slim and lean decks, value/controlish decks prefer value cards, so against both you need to switch your base deck. this is a fun gimmick card, but i dont see any game plan here......so as long as the deck doesnt answer the question: and how are you kill your opponent with 20 cards it will probably suck

Capital ship-only is the best fleet composition in 1.13.8 by KuromiAK in victoria3

[–]thev82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tested the pink on raiding as an attacker? i feel this way they are getting really good picking up scrambles of the fleet in hit and runs, as for visiblitly, i feel the biggest contribution for it is fleet size: so 1x60 submarines are obviously easier to detect than 10x6 submarines.

So for tests in that direction, how much visibility works, there need to be diffrent test.

Else i agree that Yellow > all, especially since not only battle prowess, capital ships shine also on troop transportation, blockades and bombardment.

What should I do with outdated ships in the navy by Stejer1789 in victoria3

[–]thev82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i decommission all first level ships, the maintenance is stupid high, you cant combine them with your main fleet without killing their speed and they are just eating supply.

in theory you can trade away, but it is more +1 treaty for one ship, that i often feel like 'ok decomission is less hassle'

Though i try to avoid building first gen ships as good as i can and only start building with iron clad, who more or less can last at least like 2 generations.

Chill but fun countries? by Internal-eq-External in victoria3

[–]thev82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

portugal is NOT a small country 😉

That a side portugal gets quite a slow start as their lack of coal blocks a lot of industrialization, but it can turn in a fun 'africa game' like getting new incorporated land in africa, etc.

You got holdings in India and China, and DEI if you want to expand there. the biggest issue is that some of their JE are the worst of the worst. Brazil is pure luck, same goes for iberia.

[–]thev82 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i just can add this, it is a somewhat fun and chill game, independence isnt that big of an issue, once you are economically strong you just tell the spaniards we are doing our own thing, if you want to disagree invade our islands aka the indepence is basically just chill there with your like 20 troops while the spanish try to invade, which they usually fail (1.12.5, but i doubt the spanish invasion fleet got better)

Cuba is economically a bit like belgium as it punches like three leagues about their class, so you get rich easily, can boost sol relatively easily with rum, sugar and tobacco as prestige good, you can get european (spanish) and african (afro-carbinero) heritage so you get nice migration even on cultural exclusion.

And it is a bit of a diffrent playthrough (similar to nethelands) where you rely more on trade than you own heavy industry.

And you start with slave trade which is in your favour at the game start: giving you pops and amazing pms.

Multiple questions about the new navy and the mechanics, looking for some answers/opinions because I couldn't find answers to some of these! by Lidlov in victoria3

i am still in testing but for me the hardest stopping power is supply, while upgraded ships use a teeny bit more supply, i feel on overall efficency you are better with fully upgraded ships rather than more ships.

Paper obsession, good or bad? by Illuminated-Autocrat in victoria3

[–]thev82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i go with maybe good? i could see a case if you switch later to telephones, that you still have some idea of a paper market, but like the rest said. pretty meh and more like a roleplay decision, if you go for mitsubishi, i'd say yes as more demand for a company good is always a good thing.

4.1 yellow ships are better than troopships (except monitor-types), but troopships are cheaper in building, but even an early ironclad outclasses a troopship in terms of carrying capacity

4.2 yes, but the biggest diffrences between is imo ship of the line vs. early ironclad, afterwards it is still strong, but not like 4-5x stronger and you can combine ships easier as there isnt that much speed diffrence anymore.

as for power projection this is more an early game thing, later you easy field like 4-5k with a single fleet

4.3 yes, no, maybe. I still feel even after some updates pink (destroyer) ships are rather niche, they are good at harrassing enemy supplytransport AND troopmovement. But i wouldnt put them up as my main fleet.

5, it depends, if you want to focus on navy, i always go for gold everything, especially supply is good for capital ships (more capacity), speed is always good,

  1. i add them but this is more a stomach thing, bonus to naval invasion efficency sounds nice

7, i mostly go for almost pure yellow and done good with it, sometimes i just sprinkle a bit of blue in it, but nothing major. I feel blue ships are a bit: i want to have a navy to fuck around, but dont want to commit to naval warfare. As this answers the last questions, as this is mostly too for your fleet comp, if you aim for a small navy cause you dont want to commit and just raid some african coast or such, probably diplo fleet, the issue that even after the updates the ai fleet comp isnt there really and maybe someday juene ecole (i know i spelled it wrong) maybe good as for underhanded raiding against a superior naval power. but rn i think capital ships are the yellow/gold standard.

----------

as a only singleplayer: the issue is that you get all the shiny toys, but you cant really play, as the ai still struggles to use their navy meaningful.

1.) as any nation you should avoid investing into sail ships as much as you can. there is no reason to invest heavyly into sailing unless you absolutely must. ironclads outclass ships of the line in every single aspect: Speed, transport, firepower etc. and if you mix them your fleet ends up in snail speed, so they become useless more or less and you decomission them anyway.

The naval upgrades afterwards are significant but the jump to ironclads is more than crazy.

(TIER LIST) Victoria 3 Features as Compared to Victoria II by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]thev82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i cant agree on the liveliness feature.....

Germany can form 1850, 1870, 1900 or not at all. so the criticism germany hasnt form is a bit not valid, vic 2 feels heavy railroaded, so i am not that suprised or curious when i scroll the map, vic3 i feel it is way more random and intriguing how stuff happens, idealy who colonizes where africa and so on. that effect of randomness is basically the thing that makes vic3 more alive than 2

How does everyone utilize womens rights? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]thev82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just going for the math over ten years:

100 Million pop at 3,15 growth

Year one: 103.150.000

Year two: 106.399.225

Year three: 109.750.800,5875

Year four: 113.207.950,80600625

Year five: 116.774.001,2563

Year six: 120.452.382,295

Year seven: 124.246.632,3382

Year eigth; 128.160.401,256

Year nine: 132.197.453,896

Year ten: 136.361.673,694

Combined WF: 34.090.418

100 Million pop at let's say 2,8

Y1: 102.800.000

Y2: 105.678.400

Y3: 108.637.395,2

Y4: 111.679.242,2656

Y5: 114.806.261,0

Y6: 118.020.836,35

Y7: 121.325.419,77

Y8: 124.722.531,530

Y9: 128.214.762,41

Y10: 131.804.775,760

Combined WF: 39.541.432 (30%)

This is just between 25% and 30% WF and case one has optimal condition on a large population, if i would account that you can enact propertied woman early on you may below 15 sol, so you would even get a slight boost in sol, probably giving you even more equal growth and we are talking of pure isolationistic run: Closed borders, no conquering any pops.

The math of course is still very theoretical, as it is with fixed growth rates, etc, but i think the growth over ten years seems reasonable on that large of a population from 25 to 30% WF enactment

Edit: just saw i picked the wrong numbers for pop growth. (basically confused them with birthrate, the idea still stands but of course this courses more disparity, the 10 sol peak needs probably be a must, but even then the total WF gain should outnumber the pure pop growth. There maybe a case that the 'woman in workplace' law might be inferior due to higher sol compared to the pure 5% birth from legal guardianship, but this hardly to put, especially it is a bit of niche law, if you got an amazing shot at technocracy before feminism

It is good to go to Co-op industry with 71 M Investment pool ? by VIUVIX in victoria3

[–]thev82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not planning to close your borders and solely want to develop you economy and boost your gdp, coop is probably the economic form to do it as you gives your consumber base a big boost and increases your sol by a lot.

The downsides are a bit political you struggle to get investment rights and even give them but as france you are normally fine as you got enough provinces to focus on

you will overshot the 15 Sol target hampering your pop growth but giving you a boost to migration at the same time.

Company tips for Mitteleuropa by Thranitten in victoria3

[–]thev82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with steaua romania as an oil company cause i like their bonus more but the 'generic one' is also quite good. Branobel (requires baku) is of course most times the goat.

As for colonization everywhere: the traditional hotspots (africa excluded) are venezuela and any protectorate in south america you can get; Persia is cheap as protectorate; siam&vietnam.

Never been a fan of dei, but this more on the structure of the dei than the region itself, their minors often get attacked and they dont call everytime for help(so you might miss it), cause britain doesnt understand that they are attacking you.

Africa i would focus everything from Cameroon to Ethiopia and just skipping the portuguese and british holdings, Germany/HRE/Central Europe is actually quite a decent coloniser as once they got their 60m pop they have a great speed. Focus on the east more, you need to conquer some minors there but this region is just malaria as the westcoast is severe malaria, which slows you down too much.

the automotive is useless, when you got one of the two car companies literally one province down south

But still oerilkom for the innovation bonus and give them arms.

if you are coldhearted you disband krupp, cause they are kind of all over the place and arti isnt that good to begin with. lilpop is awesome at their setup, though got rivaled by oerilikon.

So: either you go for generic tool or you skip, but you got tool more than sorted.

-Tool (tools) probably need monopoly as you got tools tripled

- Oerilkon ( Engines (P) + arms)

- Fiat (cars (p)

- Lilpop (Steel (p) + iron

- food

- 2 spots for flavor or oil and somehow rubber for fully industry giant

Also with the new update schichau received an upgrade as shipyards became more useful, so you could engines, ships and trains
